The throttle bodies on most newer cars are not adjustable for its idle speed. If the Check Engine Light is on, go to the nearest auto parts store and get them to pull the error codes from your car's computer. Post the codes back here and we can give you a better answer to your question

I had a new throttle body installed now it,s running high idle when I come to the light it goes from 1000 down below 1000 but when stopped I had them change my gas pedal and I was having codes come up about tracking system and reducing power on the car I'm just asking is there a certain way to change the throttle body speed noticed there were six clips on the outside of it you could get back with me thank you here is a couple codes one is p1174 and the second one would be p2138

It is a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo and it has the 3.5 V6 sorry I didn't put this in earlier the car has 125000 miles on it

sounds like you may have a bad throttle body sensor which is located on the throttle body itself it can happen, you can also have a faulty o2 sensor or clogged fuel injectors both will throw a p1174 code . If you paid someone for this work I would take it back to them and have them fix it as it was not fixed correctly

How can I fix high idle?

In theory once the desired idle speed is programmed into the management system, in the absence of such faults as air leaks, sticking idle air control valve and suchlike it should be impossible for the idle speed to be much different from the programmed value because the ECU should continue closing down the amount of air bypassing the throttle butterfly until the idle is around the correct value.

I think you need to go back to basics and double-check the work to ensure everything is as it should be. In the absence of mechanical faults and ignoring the possibility of electronic problems a high idle must be caused by too much air entering the engine, either because the idle air control valve is not closing properly or because the throttle butterfly is not closing fully.

It is worth noting air can enter the intake through leaky diaphragms, split vacuum hoses or faulty pcv systems. It is also worth checking the egr valve if fitted.

How do I adjust the throttle body on a 2007 toyota corolla?

Unfortunately many car manufacturers don't like it when people do it themselves, so they have a little b**by-trap they like to spring on you. If you replace the TPS, IAC, etc, the idle will many times no go back to normal and you will need to have the computer "relearn" so it can rest it back to normal! No real reason for them to design it this way, except of course to force you to go to the dealer to get it fixed! Nice little surprise they like to give their customers!

Idle ok on startup, then won't go below 2k after it gets up to temp.

Throttle position switch is out of adjustment. Check Service manual for proper adjustment. Throttle plate should be almost or closed.

How to replace my idle speed motor 1990 Dakota v6 3.9l

I had a 1992 5.2 V8 Dakota,so I looked over my
Factory Service Manual for you

The 3.9 & 5.2 are much the same

At the front of the throttle body is the MAP Sensor
On the drivers side the TPS & at the rear the AIS Motor

Air Idle Speed Motor

My experience once, was with a low idle, I replaced a worn
set of spark plugs, cleaned the rotor & cap & was good to go

That is what I would do & then remove the AIS & try cleaning it
& the port it goes into

I have a Mastertech OBD 1 Scan tool like the GM Tech 2 ,back
in those years,so I could control the idle with it, to test it

Today I just use the scope for TPS & Oxygen Sensors & moved
on the a Notebook Scan Software

I can not see from the manual the screw type, but it appears to be
two screws holding it in & I would guess they are torx, like a T30
maybe

If you can't get it to work or idle replace the AIS

Make sure the cable & throttle shaft etc don't stick

If you have to remove the throttle body & clean it good

Code p1506

P1506 - Idle Air Control (IAC) Overspeed Error This DTC is set when the PCM detects engine idle speed that is greater than the desired rpm.
  • IAC circuit short to GND
  • Damaged IAC valve
Disconnect IAC valve and look for little or no change in engine rpm as an indication of a stuck or damaged valve.

Adjust air fuel mixture

there is a set screw in the front of the throttle body, to adjust it, but first why do you need to adjust it ? if low idle then it could be your TPS or IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, this valve is on the back of the TB and should be cleaned first, take the two.screws out which are torx heads and I think.a 25, once you have it out, take TB cleaner and a non lint towel and spray and clean, also clean the port where it sits in to, on these Dodges they are known for these to be carboned up, this would give low or high idle, also check to see if you have your 5volt reference on this sense, the TPS and crank sense, this one is hard to get to, it sits on top of your transmission bell housing on pass side. before you go touching the.idle set screw, check these and clean.idle air control valve first

Where is the vacuum modulator on a 1989 Chevy silverado 4x4?

Have you tried to adjust the idle itself to bring it down? The adjustment should be right on the throttle body where the gas pedal is connected to the throttle body. There should be a screw that will allow you to adjust the idle up or down. If you loosen the screw it will take your idle down

Has low idle and wants to die when a/c is on when idling. Then when i accelerate, it sounds like it is shifting at high RPMs.

The low idle and wanting to stall is caused by a dirty throttle body, it needs to be cleaned thoroughly front and back sides using throttle body cleaning spray. Also while doing the cleaning, disconnect the battery to reset the computer so it will relearn to the newly cleaned throttle body.

Idle speed adjustment

the ecu drives a unit called an idle airspeed controller.if there is a vacuum leak, the computer will have the idle speed too high.
the IAC is a motor driven valve that controls airflow into the throttle body.it is common for idle speeds in the range of 1400rpm instead of 800 in this situation.
check the air filter, the throttle body cleaned, and the IAC has to be free moving.
also make sure that your coolant temperature sensor is accurate or the computer will think the engine is cold and keep the idle really high.

pretty sure that year is throttle body fuel injected if so check idle air control switch may be stuck or passage may need to be cleaned cylinder shape located on throttle body but first check all vacuum hoses for leaks or cracks
