Sorry, but I may have gave you the wrong info. Thinking that the brake light stayed on in the IP. At the rear, then replace the brake switch. It is shorted. It is located on a bracket by the brake pedal arm. Under the dash. The brake switch touches the arm and is spring loaded.

Look at the brake light switch for function and adjustment. Brake lights normally are not affected by ignition, so they can remain on with key out and that is okay.

check your brake switch, upper brake peddle arm should press it in enough to turn lights off.
