How can you tell if a timing belt, A/T belt,P/S belt & A/C belt all need to be replaced?

The car has just over 58,000 kms. and we have been told that all the above mentioned belts need to be replaced. Within the last week, the battery & starter have been replaced due to trouble starting.

SOURCE: how long does a timing belt last on a Hyundai Tuscon

Generally speaking most cars should have the timing belt changed every 60-80K miles just so that it doesn't break while your driving and do furthur damage. Most vehicles have the water pump changed at the same because they're in the same area and once you open it all up you just go ahead and change it all.

SOURCE: car will not start

Try running a wire from the little terminal of the starter motor to the Positive on the battery , Disconnect the little wire thats on there first. No need to turn the key on as we are bypassing this. This should cause the starter to turn.Make sure that if its a manual that its in Neutral.
If the starter motor turns then the problem is either the relay or the ignition switch.Or if its an automatic Transmission it could be the inhibitor switch .
Hope this helps

SOURCE: i just had my belts

check the tension. cheap belts will stretch. if after you retension them (especially the alternator belt) you may need to replace them with BANDO or OEM belts.

After how many kms must the timing belt and alternator belt be changed to avoid damages to the engine

All ways go by the drivers manual to be safe. You will find they very from around 50 to 100 kms for the timing belt, the alternator belt is generally separate to the timing belt and needs to be changed when noise or signs of damage show .

A Friend of mine had a Forrester and I'm sure he was told that the belt should be changed around 90 to 100K as a precaution. You don't want it breaking in the middle of no where. Apparently its a pretty expensive job. I would ring around a few Auto repair shops. 50K seems a bit early for such a job.
