Locate the thermostat housing first...trace the upper radiator hose running to the motor, where it connects to the motor is the housing...usually held in place by 2 bolts...the thermostat is inside this housing when removed from the motor...You can ask ti see the thermostat ...be sure to use the same type of coolant, unless you drain and flush the radiator, and system...Why changing this now...Is your motor overheating?

Could be a number of things, dirty fluids,solenoid packs or sensors bad worn clutches converter, thrust plates piston or pistons bad in the gear clutch plate housing ,i would start with the simple fluid change first.

The oil filter on a Lexus GX460 is a cartridge type filter located at the bottom front of the engine. It is difficult to see without removing the front engine undercover, which is basically a steel plate shield held to the vehicle by 4 bolts. Once the shield is removed, the oil filter housing is visible right behind and just above the stabilizer bar. The housing is positioned sideways and a large pair of channel locks can be used to unscrew the black housing cap. Make sure you have a drip pan ready because a fair amount of oil will drain once the cap is removed. After the cap is removed, it's a simple matter of removing the cartridge filter with your fingers and popping in the new one. A new rubber o-ring should be included with the replacement filter.

On 1994 Lexus ES300 3.0L MFI DOHC 6cyl the Thermostat is located under hood, passenger side, upper engine area, engine end of upper radiator hose, mounted in coolant outlet housing, you need to take off this componentes to access this.

5w30. the oil filter is a paper filter located inside an aluminum housing. you must remove the small access panel just ahead of the oil pan to access the filter. you will nee a special wrench to remove the aluminim housing to access the filter.

Follow the top radiator hose to the housing that the hose is clamped to. Remove the housing and the thermostat will be revealed. Hope this helps!
