P0420 is Catalyst System Below Efficiency (i.e. catalytic converter on the exhaust system.)
To check your catalytic converter, get a very light, small finishing nail hammer and tap the catalytic converter lightly, if you hear rattling inside it then it's shot. If your exhaust pipes are rusted through anywhere, get it all done at the same time. You can DIY using parts from Walker Muffler... schematics are available on line, get new hangers too!

Code p420 is for right/passenger side Catalytic converter at the Manifold which is below its efficiency level. First replace it and also replace the Oxygen Sensor on the Cat Converter. P2176 Throttle actuator malfunction can cause too much unburnt fuel going through
the converter causing it to malfunction.

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
You have a worn out catalytic converter.

B2796 is no communication in Immobiliser system, which means you or some one else try to use a key transponder to start the car.
you need some one to clear that code. it doen't affect the car performance.
P0750 is shift Solenoid malfunction, you hsould have engine management light on the dash. this you can call the dealer, I believe this is cover by Toyota service bulletin.

P0420 is O2 oxygen sensors.Toyota has issued a service bulletin regarding the P0420 trouble code that could apply to your vehicle, to be sure if this bulletin applies to your car I will need the VIN# and e-mail to [email protected] with that information.

The Location of the oil filter depends on which engine you have in your CTS. the 3.2 engine the oil filter is located on the bottom of the engine to the left of the oil pan. It is not a screw on type filter it is a canister filter. You will have to unscrew the lid to gain access to the oil filter. On the 3.6 Engine the oil filter is also a canister filter but it is located on the top side of the engine. On the drivers side around the center of the engine cover. It will take a 15/16 socket to remove the lid.

Check the gas cap,also,it could mean the evap system is not working,or you have run out of gas recently,if all this checks out ok,then the tank is not venting properly.
