Question about 2008 Hyundai Accent

4 Answers

Hi, the name is Monica I have a 2008 accent. When I initially start my car it seems fine, in park or neutral I punch the pedal and the engines revs perfectly. The problem comes after the engine warms up or a few minutes a driving power seems to begin to diminish. when revs drop and I accelerate again (i.e. traffic light, stop sign, etc. ) instead of a steady acceleration the engine doesn't move, it stalls and even if i floored it the car wont move. It eventually starts moving but that stall is getting progressively worse. I have done some research but I essentialy know nothing about cars except the basics, what I did find that some similar owners have had trouble with this and one problem that I understand has to do with the mass air flow If anyone can offer their advice or tips I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

The map sensor and the MAF sensor are one in the same. But this won't cause just a 1/2 misfire. It would all cylinders misfiring. Look for broken vacuum lines by those cylinders first. The map and O2 codes can be caused by the 1/2 misfire. Which could be a bad vacuum line. Some how you are getting excessive air into the engine.

Hello Monica.,Take it to your local garage and ask them to check out the onboard computer.
You can do it yourself often. Just disconnect your battery for 2 mins and then reconnect.. If the same.. the garage.,

good luck

We did that and it did fine for about a he then started back

well Monica then take it to a garage like I said. It doesn't have to be a main dealer as most garages now have the equipment to connect to the car and tell exactly the problem.. Messing on by yourself could lead to more problems and more expense in the long run. Good luck.

I took it to one they didn't know what it was cause it was not reading no codes

SOURCE: 2002 sequioa sudden stall

Often when the battery is disconnected or replaced the computer will lose it's learned idle settings. You could try letting the engine idle in park until the engine temperature comes up to normal and leave it like that for a few minutes, then put the Air con on and let it idle again for a few minutes, then switch the air con off and put it into drive. If it does not stall, let it idle in drive for 2 minutes or so, and then do the same with the Air con on. This should relearn the base idle settings and stop it from stalling on you. Before you carry out this procedure you should make sure that when you replaced the battery you didn't remove any other plugs or knocked anything that may be causing the fault. If you try this procedure and it still stall when you select drive, you will need to get a Mechanic to check the vehicle over.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

The inside of the ignition dealer (Delco) must be thoroughly cleaned and all metal parts passed with fine metal wool. Sparkplugs must also be cleaned or renewed. The air inlet-valve is very sensitive. The cylinder and the disc must be carefully cleaned with light metal wool and contact cleaner. The fault is due to the disc remaining stuck in the cylinder, so no idle function and malfunction of the auto-choke system. If this solution does not work, then the vacuum pressure is defective.Hint from a German Mercedes specialist.

Sounds like a bad motor mount, pop the hood and see if the motor shakes or moves rapidly when u put it in gear holding down the brake.

2008 sprinter 2500, every time i start to drive I have no power for about 5 to 8 seconds nothing happening then slowly it starts to rev up engine and start to drive then its fine , there r no codes

Check the engine in neutral/park and depress gas and confirm engine is slow to rev up. If the engine revs in gear and little or no movement have the transmission checked.

this car is likely a drive by wire.(no cable between gas pedal and throttle actuator motor) Some one needs to observe the throttle to see if it advances when the gas is depressed.

The simplest analysis would be the connection to the engine computer with not a simple scan tool but a Chrysler proprietary analyzer to see the interaction of throttle position and engine RPM

Hope this helps?

2008 hyundai accent clutch slipping, i think?

seems a bit early for clutch. how many k's? I would start by checking the intake tube for splits & security & airflow sensor. they will cause the engine to rev but no response (like a slipping clutch) so its manual right?

90 f150 rough idle in park and neutral. drive fine.

Hi, Seems like a possible inlet air leak or to low engine revs, tickover rpm to low.outside chance engine oil to thick, try lower vicousity engine oil. this sometimes works with a rebuilt motor. Could be engine is just still tight from rebuild,1-2000 miles running in should cure this. if still low mileage.

Hello there,

This is a normal operation, all your doing is hitting the rev limiter. It's there to protect the engine from over revving. The Powertrain Control Module or PCM cuts fuel to the engine intermittently to keep the engine from revving past a predetermined RPM when in "neutral", and in "park" if it's an automatic. Just in case something like a foreign object or a small child or animal were to inadvertently depress the accelerator pedal and rev the engine too high and damage the engine in result. I hope this info helps, and just for peace of mind, I am a Master Certified Ford Technician. Enjoy your new exhaust!! I'm sure it sounds great!!

I think you will find the clutch plate needs replacing. Your symptoms sound like a slipping clutch. You will need to take it to a mechanic, this is not a job for a handy man.

Engine over revs at initial start up without touch accelerator. Shut down and restart, sometimes problems goes away.

it all depends on what yr the ford is b/c my grandmas car dose it a lot when you go to shut the car off make sure it is in park and it is in a idle then when you start it it should be fine if not go under the hood and see if it accelator can be lossened a littel bit if so it will save you on gas and the idle wont be as high. if that dose not work then dont worrie about it it wont harm the car any and dont pump the gas pedall while the car is not running

Hi Monica...

If you have parked on a hill or rise and have place the car in park before appling the parking brake the pin for park is now stuck...
You will need someone to push the car just an inch to repease the parking pin... push uphill... that will releave the pressure on the parking pin...
Remember to always apply the parking brake first in neutral and make sure the car does not move before placing in park...
Hope this is helpful...
