How would i take my fectory radio out of the car?

Radio & Tape Player

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If so equipped, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
  2. Remove the floor console and the front console panel. On 1984-85 cars, if access to the back of the radio may be gained through other means, such as removing the "pocket" from the console, the console need not be removed.

6. Carefully push the unit out the front of the dash. When access
is gained, disconnect the multi-pin connector and
the antenna cable from the unit. Remove the unit.

7. Reinstall in the reverse order. Take great care not to damage the dash trim and instrument visor. Make certain the connectors are firmly and squarely installed. If applicable, be sure to enable the SRS.

How do u get the wood part around the cd player off in a 2000 diamante

1. Put on the emergency brake and put the transmission in neutral (key must be on, brake must be pressed). Having the shift lever in neutral allows the console to clear it.

2. Remove the front cupholder by pulling it up and out. Set it aside in safe place so you won’t accidentally scratch or break it while continuing your job.

3. Clean out the coin compartment and leave the door open.

4. The console trim pieces are held in place with metal clips. Reach through the opening at the rear of the coin compartment and pull up on the lower console trim until it unsnaps. Continue to unsnap the lower console trim, rear to front. It hooks into the ashtray, so don't try to pull it up from there. Once you have unsnapped the trim from the console, it will pull back and out from the ashtray. Lift the lower console trim up and disconnect any wiring connectors, then remove it up and over the shift lever. Set it aside in a safe place.

5. Put the car back into park for now (key on, press brake, shift, then remove the key).

6. Reach under the bottom of the whole ashtray unit (not just the ashtray) and pull it back towards the rear of the car until it unsnaps, but don’t completely remove it yet. Remove the wiring connector from the ashtray and set the ashtray aside in a safe place.

7. Next, you are going to remove the center vent unit just above the AC controls. If your model has a thumbwheel on the left side of the vent unit, you must first unhook the cable. Use a light to look under the dash from the driver's side, find the end of the cable, unclip it and unhook it from the peg. If you have a problem identifying the cable, move the thumbwheel up and down while looking under the dash and you can see the cable end moving. Remember how it was installed so you can reconnect it later.

8. Now comes the hard part. Work your fingers into the area of the center vents just below the digital clock lens. Unsnap the vent unit by pulling it out towards the rear of the car. It may take some pulling, so be careful. Once the center vent unit unsnaps, remove it from the dash and set it aside in a safe place.

9. You now can see the upper and lower mounting screws for the center unit. Remove the screws, being careful not to drop the screws inside of the dash.

10. Carefully pull the center unit out a bit from the dash. You will have to disconnect all the wiring and a tube before you fully remove it.

11. Disconnect the wiring from emergency flasher, and pull the AC temperature sensor breather tube off.

12. Disconnect all the connectors from the AC unit and the radio. Use a flat blade screwdriver to press the tab on those connectors with one. The screwdriver will also help you pry those connectors out of their sockets. Remember how everything was connected so you can put it back later.

13. Once you have the connectors disconnected the center console unit can be removed from the dash. Set the unit face down on a soft surface and remove the screws that hold the trim in place. The radio is mounted by screws that go into each side.

14. Reassembly is the reverse of the above steps. Be careful to not overtighten any of the screws, or they may strip out their mounting holes.

Rat caught under center console CD/holder, how do I remove the thing? Yes, is serious question, it is starting to stink.

Have you tried removing the radio unit as that will be the easiest. The main console is a lot trickier as there are screws and bolts all over the place the I believe require you to remove a lot of other components just to get to those hidden screws.
The easiest way to remove the radio is to remove the ashtray assembly. There are a few small phillips head screws in there. Then pull up on the center console cover and push it backward around the gearshift. The actual panel around the radio is held on by a friction cover you can easily pull off. The radio itself has 4 screws on it and then you just pull forward to disengage the wiring harness from the back.

6 disk CD changer is broken!

Hello, I just removed the 6-disc player from my 2001 Trooper. To remove it: 1) Remove the two screws above the radio area in the black faceplate 2) Remove the one screw located between the ash tray and the lighter. 3) Remove the four screws (two on each side) from the front center console cover and pull it back (you will need to shift into 2 or L) 4) Pop the black face plate off (there are some metal brackets holding it on that need some light force to pull out. Nothing should break) 5) There are two screws for the CD player and two screws for the radio. Unscrewing them will allow you to pull out the radio and disconnect the smaller CD wiring harness, then you can pull out the CD player.
When I unscrewed the CD player unit, I found that there are six plastic halos that hold each disc and move them up and down as selected. These had broken in some places and the discs had dropped to the bottom and stacked, so nothing could move...hence the clicking sound. Because there was a severe jam, nothing else could be loaded either...hence the error message. I'm attempting to superglue the pieces back together to see if I can reset it. Otherwise, I'd recommend you replace the unit (most likely what I'll do).
Hope this helps!
