Seat belt won't buckle. What should i do?

The seat belt latch is jammed. buckle will not latch. we need help to get it it un-jammed. we thought we had it fixed using some oil lubricant, (we had it so if you pushed down the orange button and put buckle in, it would latch) but in an effort to try and fix it completely, it is now even worse, and when we push the orange button, it won't even move!! and is completely jammed!!

SOURCE: how to fix the tilt steering.. won't go down even when you push the auto button. My heated seats ain't workin either..(driver & passenger seat)

Most often, the stuck steering wheel is a result of a faulty 'tilt relay switch.' If you attempt to use the tilt switch and you can hear a clicking/whirring noise, then its your relay switch, if not, it may be the motor that is broken.

SOURCE: Trunk Latch will not pull closed.

The small switch is the trunk by the pull down motor with the flap that depresses down is at fault. That is what you call the truck pull down switch. You can take this part and show it to a Cadillac or Ford parts department sales person and get a replacement for you car. Ford uses the same part for their Lincolns and Crown Vic's. The part is made by the very same supplier for Ford & GM. Ford will sell this part at a much lower cost as well compared to GM

Seat belt latch will not disengage when seat belt is not buckled. It seems that the spring may be getting worn out, but the latch stays engaged and will not retract so the seat belt can be buckled.

Sorry. I was exhausted and frustrated when I wrote the original post. Hopefully this clarifies:

The latching mechanism does not retract all the way when the button is pushed which does not allow the seat belt to be inserted all the way.

I fiddled with the passenger seat belt and found that that was the issue. I just need to know if I can fix that myself or if it needs to be replaced.
tip

Middle seat belt buckle tip for booster seats, car seats, and large humans.

In trying to fit a booster seat into my 2004 Honda CR-V, I realized that the CRV has the belt buckle in the middle of the seat. This is a big problem for someone using a child seat in the middle seat as the buckle receptacle is completely covered by the booster seat. I thought about buying an extender but realized it wouldn't completely solve the problem. After much thought I came to the conclusion that the buckle receptacle could be moved to a new location without compromising any safety of the belt. I first pulled the buckle receptacle all the way out and then cut the fabric to enlarge the hole from which it protrudes from the seat. Then I pushed it through the hole and back into the seat with the head pointing towards the window and outer edge of the seat. After flipping the window seat out of the way I was able to peel the fabric away from the bottom edge of the middle seat enough to reach in and retrieve the belt receptacle. It was a little tight but I was able to buckle the belt and use the seat belt to pull the receptacle through this new "hole" and VOLIA the belt receptacle is now in a better position to the side of the middle seat. You can now used a booster or car seat or put a fully grown human in this seat and buckle with ease.

Seat belt stuck

The mechanism has jammed so find the mount at the bottom near the lower sill, unbolt it from the vehicle frame and shake it until it releases. If this happens, reinstall it. If it will not come un-jammed, it will need to be replaced

Broken seat belt buckle

If I had the problem I would look at a junkyard or on line at e-bay for a replacement. You will need to get the buckle and the belt that it is attached to that goes down to the floor down through the crack in the seat.
Remember the buckle receiver is made for the certain belt in the front and rear seats. I have often tried to put the wrong belt in a buckle and it would not fit. ( Example: the right belt goes in the right buckle.)
Be blessed.

On my 2016 Ford Escape the rear passenger seat folded down and would not hold back up the problem was that the seat belt buckle pivoted down below the level of the seat when I try to raise the back of the sheet the seat belt buckle would prevent it it ended up crushing the plastic on the seat belt buckle preventing it from working the hold the seat belt I was able to repair the seat belt buckle with a screwdriver regular Style and a cigarette lighter the soft in the plastic back up so it would stay in position

In my 2007 Hyundai Accent, the seat belt light won't stop flashing and alarm won't stop ringing even when seat belt is buckled.

Check the belt latch,(the short belt you click in and push button to release). It has a sensor in it. Tap and shake it as it may have a foreign object in it. Look under the seat for the connector(s), and make sure they are pushed in all the way and that the wires aren't damaged. If that doesn't help, try disconnecting the connector. If the light and alarm are still on afterwards.....you have two choices. First, replace that part of the belt. Or, try running a jumper wire across the two contacts in the connector but I cant tell you that!!
