1999 Ford Taurus that pushes radiator fluid out of the over flow and is really rusty. Air locked was fixed, flushed out 2 times, new reseviour, new hoses, and steams a bit behind the engine. No antifreeze in the oil. Heater hasn't been working either. New thermostat. Overheats and the overflow cap isn't even warm.

    Must be air trapped...try bleeding the system from above the thermostat... may need to disconnect the upper radiator hose to bleed...

Try a radiator cap, but sounds like water pump if not the cap...The cap is very important, and a cheap fix. Hope this helps.

Replace radiator cap , it's weak an not letting system build to normal pressure . Air in system !

It really seems like you'll need a radiator. The rad can appear to have good flow because even if it's plugged, coolant will bypass the cooling fins. If you can get at it, try putting your hand on the surface of the radiator when the engine is hot but not running. The rad will fell relatively cool across the surface if it's bad...hot if coolant is flowing through the core. Those hand-held laser thermometers are handy for doing this as well.

you don't say what year caddy. but older models (especially the 4.1L) did have a problem with intake manifolg blockages and gasket leaks. if that sounds like it could be your problem try replacing the intake manifold gasket, and clean out the inside of the manifold while it's off either manually, or by having it put in an acid vat at a rebuild shop or napa center

Sounds like the heater core may be blocked..First check the level make sure its full..Then let the vehicle get up to operating temperature..Feel the heater hoses going into the firewall..Both should be hot to touch..If one is hot and the other one is warm or not warm ,,then you have a blockage in the heater core..If its block ,,then i have cleaned them out by taking the heater hoses off,,and running a garden hose through the heater core..If that doesnt work then you have to remove the dash,,and replace the heater core..

I would think you have a badly leaking engine cylinder head gasket. Have a shop test for that.

My car has been over heating. we changed the water pump, and themostat. performed a radiator flush (twice). water was very rusty the first time and a little clearer the second time.
Flushing won't necessarily clean out a severely restricted radiator. A radiator shop can remove one of the tanks and push a rod through the tubes to clear out such a radiator. Now days it's sometimes cheaper just to replace the radiator. A lot of that rust can also collect in the engine block. It's very difficult to get it out of there. Sometimes you have to remove the freeze plugs to get all the rust out of the block.

Check fluid level in radiator, thermostat might be stuck, or vaccum control to close heater core flow of hot liquid, may be stuck shut.
You may have controls on dash set to cool, not hot.

It could be air locked. Feel both your heater hoses, and, with the engine running, loosen the one that's cold, if there is one. If that doesn't help, it is probably your heat control valve that is malfunctioning.

check that there is flow coming out your heater hoses
step 1 remove 1c heater hose
step 2 have a friend start car remember it is easy to install a heater flush valve and it makes the job easier
if there is flow then eithor you have a blockage or an air lock
if there is no flow there might be a valve in the heater lines to stop the flow of coolant to the car when ac is on i have seen theise in a few cars but they are rare if there is a valve than make sure it isnt frozen with rust and ir does work in a ford i would assume that it is a vacume valve

Fluid leaking up in engine area..if it is a line where is it
So it is a trans fluid leak? Check the trans cooler lines (black rubber hoses about the thickness of an index finger) leading from the transaxle to the radiator. Air flow while driving and from the radiator fans will blow it every where.

Heater blows out cold air when on the warm setting ,possibly a plugged heater core
yes this is very likely the problem, have you check your cooling system is it rusty? if so the heater core is plugged, take the inlet and outlet hoses off the core at firewall and use a garden hose to clear it, then have the cooling system flushed if rusty.

Heater doesn't work
This happens ALL THE TIME!! Heater core is likely plugged with rust, yes. but a garden hose fix will NOT last. and the reserve probably IS cracked on bottom, as most are.They are relatively cheap from Ford, though. Have a REPUTABLE radiator shop do a Genuine Power Flush to the entire cooling system (not an automated fluid exchange many shops claim to be a "flush") and THEN have them unplug the heater in a similar fasion. Now is the time to replace the surge tank (old one is packed with rusty sediment that is usually partially plugging the cracks in it, and not very cost effective to clean anyway). On older, very rusty 2 valve 3.0 systems only other issues are the rear of timing cover gasket often leaks a little, and the water pump impellers can become eroded away (from rust) and water flow suffers. So... watch for residue or dripping from behind water pump. If minimal, a mild leak sealant added to a properly cleaned system with refill and tightening the bolts near leak will do the trick--otherwise timing cover gasket and pump replacement is needed.

Heater in 1998 Ford Taurus
When u flushed the radiator, what did u find? Was the old coolant dirty, rusty, sediment in it? What u describe sounds like the core is plugged up w/ junk. This would be my 1st choice of the problem, especially if the coolant was rusty, cruddy, as described above. It wouldn't be an air pocket (after a couple of years). Some cars do have a valve that opens and closes to allow the hot coolant into the core for heat, or a flap door that opens to allow the fan to blow air thru the core for heat, but the fact that this started when u flushed the system leads me to believe it's a plugged up core. U could try to flush the system again, make sure the heat is on when u do, so u have circulation tthru the core to help flush it out. let me know how u make out. good luck!
