Hi Louis, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair in St Charles Mo
Louis, the best way to check power to the fuel pump is using a test light and probe the power wire on the connector at the pump, but you'll need to drop the tank a little to get to the connector. NOTE: Run a jumper wire from the battery negative cable to make sure you have a good ground. Touch the power wire while someone turns the key on, if the test light comes on the power is good. BUT, you also want to check the ground wire and here's how you do it. Move the jumper wire from the negative terminal too the positive terminal at the battery, next probe the ground wire at the pump connector, if it comes on then both power and ground are OK and you will need a pump. BUT, if one or the other doesn't come on then you'll need further assistance, please send your family and friends to my website and if you need further help click here: Auto Repair

Did you check for spark at any ot the spark plug wires/ coils? If there is, check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Take the port cap off and connect a fuel pressure gauge. If one is not available, with a pocket screw driver deppress valve at port and observe if fuel pours out. If no fuel comes out at all, check your fuel pump circuit. Check for good ground and power at fuel pump connector. If power/ground are ok, replace fuel pump. If spark and good fuel pressure is present, there is the possibility of engine mechanical issues(jumped) timing chain). Also, a plugged catalitic wont let engine start but its very unlikely thats your problem. Start with your basics: spark, fuel, engine mechanical and catalitic.
My routine to check non-starting motors: (petrol/gas models)
Check immobilizer status
Check fuel supply -does it reach the fuel rail when starting. If not OK, check 12v supply to fuel pump when starting. If OK, fuel pump maybe dead.If not present, check fuel pump fuse and relay.
If fuel supply is OK, check spark ignition. If not OK, follow the supply circuit backwards to the ECM. Coils and/or ignition amplifier connector should have one 12v supply to it when ignition switch is on.
For Diesels with 'common rails' you can take same approach for fuel. No ignition testing possible. The diesel fuel pump still needs battery power. It will make some sound when IGN is on. If not, check ALL fuses and relays.
sounds like either the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump itself has gone out. check fuse panel first then check fuel pump relay. if those are good then check power leads to pump at tank and if you have power there then the pump has probably failed. hope this helps. Chris
The fuel pump relay gets power from two different circuits, and the brown wire goes to the computer for ground. The dark green and white goes to the pump. Have you checked each circuit with a meter ?
FIRST ARE YOUGETTING FUEL?CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE POWER GOING TO THE FUEL PUMP IN THE REAR OF THE VECHICLE IN FRONT OF THE TANK,IF YOU ARE AND NO FUEL IT'S THE PUMP,IF NO POWER CHECK FUSES AND FUEL PUMP,BUT FIRST CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR GETTING ANY FUEL TO THE ENGINE BY SPRAYING A LITTLE BRAKE CLEANER IN THE THROTTLE BODY AND SEE IF THE VECHICLE STARTS.
remove the fuel line from the carb, put it into a bottle, crank the engine, If the bottle has fuel in it the fuel pump is working properly, if not, check the filter, and the fuel lines to the tank!!!
