SOURCE: Jeep Headlights not working. High beam works

had the same problem on my 92....check under the hood on the drivers side, towards the front, there is a "junction box" with all of the lighting wires connecting from the switches to the lights. My wires were all corroded inside,so I cleaned the ends and bought a new box from the local electronic supply store. The problem has not come back.

Cheers

Why will the headlights not turn off when ignition is turned off?

I will fill in the blanks....you must have a newer car with auto head lights....there is a setting on the headlight switch that lets you over ride the "automatic" headlight mode....maybe you or someone accidently turned it to the manual "on" position...if so turn it back to the "auto" setting......2nd....new cars do have a delay before the headlights go out after parking your car. And if you read your manual, you would see that the time they stay on after turning your ignition key off can be set to several different time settings, including to switch off as soon as you turn the key off.
But if you had accidently turned the light switch to the "on" setting.... fear not....the headlights will automatically go off after the battery is dead....lol....actually they should go off within 2-3 minutes of turning the key off...unless you have an open door or trunk...or engine hood...or maybe even a gas cap door...and your car is telling you "something's open" by the lights staying on....Take that Jim and see if it gets you anywhere.

Headlights comes on

first is your remote getting involved ? keys in your pocket hitting buttons? there is a certain combo of buttons and using your keys to put that feature to manual. no auto light on/off. you will have to turn them on manually. there is a youtube.com video that tells you how. something like turn you key to accessories, step on your break peddle while tuning your lights on and of so many times. but watch the video or talk to the dealer about the ways to turn your features on and off. also the door locks can either open one door first click other doors second click. can open all the doors at the same time or manually have to open the doors with the keys//no wireless entry.

Side marker lamp wont turn off

park-tail-running lights.
the park relay fused.

parks are part of headlights , in that they run at any time
for safety EVEN KEYS in pockets.
so are keys in pocket?
and lights off
then it can be only 2 things.
a welded (my name) relay, (contacts fused is the tech reason)
or the switch is bad.
a voltmeter and 1min work and bam, the answer.
some cars have no relay.
so its the switch.
the schematic is at alldata.com its there, see it and how simple.

on new cars the computer brain, runs this stuff. (vastly more complex)

I have a 1998 toyota corolla. when i turn off my car the headlights stay on as well as the lights on the odometer they do not turn off. my headlights are automatic. also when i open my car door when the...

Hi David, the peeping is because the lights are on....If your parking in dark place and you have the auto lights selected just turn them off....The auto lights are for when you take a long trip and want the lights to come on in at a given time or in given conditions, example; driving into a tunnel....They work with a light sensitive diode and will trigger the light when the light level falls below a set candle power....
Select the off position and I believe your problem will be over.

We have a 1993 GMC Suburban with no park lights

First on your light problem, chk. fuse, you did not say if your dash lights worked or not, but it sounds like a headlight switch to me, even if your headlights work. Secound you do not have another key? If not i believe if you take the vin# to a locksmith they can make you a key. As far as the latch on the seat belt a salvage yard is your best and cheapest bet.
