With the ING on position 2, the alarm will not sound. It would be better to charge the battery first if you can. Low battery voltage will set of the alarm but so will a voltage spike.

On my 94 Sovereign there is a switch inside the centre console that will switch off the alarm, not sure about the 96. You could try locking all the doors. connect the jump leads and then unlock the doors (the bonnet switch for the alarm I think is the same one for the under bonnet light so you might have to tape it down whilst the bonnet is open, just to confuse the alarm )

Good luck

I own a 2006 Acura TL and my alarm goes off when I tried to jump start another car. Once I take one of the jump cable off the alarm stops. What seems to be my problem?

Alarm usually monitors the battery voltage, taking something less than a minute to allow the battery voltage to settle and then latch on to it. After that happens any sudden drop in voltage such as caused when a door is opened or the ignition turned on will trigger the alarm when it is armed. The alarm should automatically disarm when the car is unlocked by key, card or remote.

I can only guess the alarm isn't disarming as it should or you are jump starting while the alarm is armed.

Car will not start or even turn over - battery is good and starter is good

Do you have an alarm system? Try activating then inactivating the alarm system. Sometimes the alarm system will disable your ignition. You can also try using the key to unlock the driver door to deactivate. Some cars deactivate different ways once the alarm system disables the ignition.

Antitheft system keep goes on so i can't start my vehicle

It is telling me to lock the doors with the key, this will arm the system, then you should be able to unlock the doors after about 3 seconds and this should disarm the system. Also, if it doesn''t try unlocking the passenger side door or the back glass with the key. Let me know you must wait at least 3 seconds before unlocking back glass or passenger door to disarm system once one door is unlocked without setting off alarm it is disabled. hope this helps

That's usually what happens when the battery has gone dead and when you are reviving it by hooking up another battery the horn goes off because it is hooked up through the car alarm. Try dissarming the alarm after you hookup the jump leads. That should work.

Find the alarm and disconnect it, or locate the fuse to the alarm and remove it. Then you can charge the battery without all the noise. Once the battery is charged, hook the alarm up and disarm it with the remote.

I HAVE A1992 LS400 LEXUS THE ALARM WAS GOING OFF AND THE CAR WOULDNT START,WHAT CAN I DO

if it has an alarm hook up the cables so the alarm goes off then deactivate it with the remote. if you dont have the remote then you need to take it to an alarm shop and get a remote programmed for it if they cant they will have to remove the alarm and you will need to get an aftermarket alarm for it but yea it wont start because the alarm was on. when you try to jump a car with an alarm even if you have the keys in the ignition the alarm will go off its a fail safe so noone can jump your car to hotwire it. but just do as i said jump it and disactivate the alarm with remote and it should turn over with ignition......
one thing you can try close all the doors lock the doors.....USE YOUR KEY TO LOCK THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND THEN UNLOCK IT. See if this might reset it.....
Best of luck i hope this will help

This morning I came out to start my 96 jetta and the battery seemed dead. So I began the process of getting a jump and as soon as we connected the jumper cables to the jetta the alarm started going off. We...

The immobilizer feature was tripped when the alarm went off. It sounds like the battery was indeed dead. My Nissan 300ZX used to trip the alarm when I jump-started it, although my Audi A4 does not. When the alarm is going off, you have to disarm it with the key or key fob first, or you won't be able to start it. Try putting the key in the door, lock it, unlock it, lock it again, and unlock it again, just to make sure you get a couple of arm/disarm cycles, then try starting it.

Alarm system won't shut off

You might try locking all the doors from the inside and then closing them all. Then try unlocking the car with the key itself (NOT THE FOB) manualy. Try a combination of these things, like maybe locking it manualy with the key itself too. Usualy some sort of locking or unlocking manualy with the key will reset the system. Its almost luike proving to the car that you are who you say you are.
