Without more details this is the best I can suggest. With the hood open attach a length of wire or small chain to the hood via the metal loop bolted to the hood. A coat hanger would work for this but a small chain, being flexible is better. Then while closing the hood thread the wire or chain down behind the grill and in front of the radiator, being careful not to be in a position to rub against any wiring, and then attach the wire or chain to the bumper, bumper bracket, front crossmember or whatever you can find that is solid. With the chain you can add a padlock which lets you lock the hood. Remember to get the hood pulled down as tightly as possible as you don't want air getting underneath and pulling the hood up while driving. You could use a bungee cord temporarily but they generally are too stretchy and easy to tear. Trust me, you DO NOT want the hood flying open while driving down the freeway! Been there, done that and it ain't fun and it IS dangerous as all get out. Good Luck.

1987 AVANTI CONVertible, HOOD LATCH CABLE BROKEN. LATCH SECURE ANY FEASABLE ACCESS TO LATCHES WITHOUT RUINING HOOD

If the cable is broken on the inside catch, you can remove the handle and pull with locking grips. If broken at the hood end you normally go in through the grille, but you have a bit of a disadvantage there. The only possible way is to get it up on a ramp and see if it can be pulled from underneath.

Resetting security system

Check door and hood latches to make sure they are actually closing properly. It could be a faulty security module, but more likely it is a broken plastic piece that clips onto the back of a door lock.

Also, if you want to test each security sensor before ripping everything apart, you can put the key in each lock and turn it to about 2:00. The light should go out completely but then begin flashing again when you remove the key. If you can get the light to go out while doing this on each door and hatch lock, then you probably have a bad hood sensor.
Otherwise, the lock that does not turn the light off is the one with the bad sensor. Also found that the alarm will not work if the security light is flashing.

lube the latch mechanism and with a screw driver try to lock the latch. if it latches then you need to loosen the latch and move it up. if it doesnt lock make sure where the cable pulls on the latch popped back in. if the lock where the cable is popped back in and it still wont latch it maybe worn out and needs replaced

How to take off headlight cover to replace bulb

The cover doesn't come off - there is a lock ring accessed from under the hood holding the bulb (a 9004) into place, Open the hood and locate the wires going into the headlight assemblies and the lock ring should be visible. It will resemble a large jar lid. Squeeze the locking clip on the connector and separate the wiring harness from the bulb. Turn the lock ring to the left to remove it. Installation is the reverse. Make sure the wiring harness is secured into position and locked. It is recommended you change the headlights in pairs - then keep the old working one as a spare.

2002 Honda Odyssey security alarm system

Make sure your hood is shut. I just got my 2002 Honda Odyssey back from the dealer today (90,000 mile check-up - I love my van and will drive it until it dies!) and when I went to lock the van with my remote transmitter, the lights didn't flash and the horn didn't sound. I open and closed all the doors and tailgate and I could hear that the doors were locked, but the security system wasn't working and that is why the lights didn't blink or the horn didn't sound. I walked up to the front of the van to check the hood to make sure it was closed (there isn't an indicator light for an open hood, only open doors) and the hood wasn't shut completely. Once I opened the hood and let it drop to securely shut, I hit the door lock button on the remote and everything worked like a charm! Hope this helps others in this predicament.
