on the drivers side head on the rear of the engine, behind the intake manifold. its kinda hidden beneath a heater hose. check out user steve hurc. he has put some pictures on where to find it on fixya
if its diesel 4JX1 its in top cam belt cover cant miss it, sensor is very clearly visible.
if its petrol V6 (6VD1 or 6VE1) its in left head at rear behind inlet manifold
these pictures are for petrol V6, Jackaroo(Trooper) and Holden Rodeo are the same.
Sends a signal related to the rail pressure as a voltage to the ECM. 3 wire connector :
Red : 5V (Feeds from ECM connector J1-4) Shared with MAP sensor, EGR pressure sensor and accellerator position sensor.(compare values from these sensors and ECM connector)
Black : Ground (Feeds from ECM J2-22) Shared with the same sensors mentioned above
White : Signal feeds to ECM connector J2-22
Low pressure will set P1194 error code. Oil rail pressure should be more than 3MPa when cranking
Also check Engine coolant temp sensor and wiring. Engine coolant to manifold temp should not differ by more than 5 deg C either way after 8 hours of no operation. I have found the same symptom on these diesels with fuel supply problems. Operate the priming pump (on top of the fuel filter) until it becomes diffycult to push down before starting or checking anything else.
Click on the following free, direct Link. It has the Belt Diagrams for your 1996 Isuzu Trooper with the 3.2L DOHC V6. It also has the positioning for what Belts go where on the Crank Pulley.

not fourmuler with this trooper ...But most are found ether by harmonic balancer in back of it or on the bellhouse or older gm inside of block under coil pack maybe the part store could help?sorry don't know if i am much help on this one ..
cam timming is possibly out due to gear reduction set up in heads
suggest remove rocker covers and make sure cam lobes are in this possition as well as all other timming marks luckily these engines (V6) are free wheeling (wont bend valves) set up like pic below
yes they have 2 cataletic convertors, one each bank
there is EGR codes, but only front O2 sensor codes and fuel trim codes no CAT codes
what were the scanner codes or flash codes i can work with both for helpful info
you can read codes by bridging pins 5 & 6 with ignition in on position engine not running
