1994 Chevy Astrovan. v6 . Running very rich, black smoke.

Have 1994 Chevy Astrovan. v6 . Suddenly it is running very rich. Black smoke at exhaust. Throttle position sensor voltage measured the at computer tracks throttle position fine. The MAP sensor voltage at the computer tracks vacuum applied from approx 4.5V at atmospheric pressure to .2V. The reg 5V is correct. Any help appreciated. Thank You, Gene Warren, OH

possibly a faulty injector for the miss but if you have a head/headgasket problem it would account for the exhaust. Do a compression test and radiator pressure test to eliminate that area of concern

Uses to much gas
If your exhaust is blowing black smoke then the engine fuel mixture is running too rich. You need an engine tune up.

Black exhaust smoke
black smoke is the vehicle is running rich, to much fuel. excess fuel enters the cylinder and does not burn completely. poor fuel milage is also a common complaint when black smoke comes out tailpipe. ( its running rich ). have a good day !

Sound like a rich by a long way; are you check if have smoke in exhaust? Black smoke is fuel, blue smoke is oil.

Also, your injectors are to big and is running rich.

Black smoke coming out of tailpipe when started
if its dark black smoke and the tip of the exhaust is pretty black the car is running rich, too much fuel is being used, needs a tune, if the smoke was white or grey its too lean, not enough fuel, if the smoke is blue its burning oil, id say the car just needs a tune or service.

My 1994 blazer is running very rich.black smoke is comming out of the exhaust.it runs good at a higher idel.i replaced many sensors already,
Most likely the fuel pressure regulator and injector spyder,under the intake manifold. You can get rebuilt ones. Look on internet for info,on the system.

My lexus is smoking from the exhaust pipe every time i press the gas
if it is white smoke the rings are going out. if its black smoke its running to rich. if it smokes on first start up and then clears out it is valve seals.either way it is costly to repair.
