I have a 1996 Nissan maxima and every time I give power by turning the ignition the anti theft will go off. I am wondering if this may be a faulty bcm or maybe an open short?

SOURCE: Remove anit-theft system

If you use the drivers outside door lock to unlock the vehicle it should disarm the vehicle. emmissionwiz is correct, you can't simply shut the factory alarm off.

Try re-setting the computer...Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and leave off for 5-10 minutes. This will allow the computer to reset. The charger may have interupted the signal or something.

Replaced the fuel pump. the car starts, but won't stay running

The anti-theft system will keep the car from being driven, so I would start there. You may need to reset the anti-theft or check the ignition key for problems.

How to reset the anti theft system in a 1995 maxima

I read somewhere I believe in Maxima Forums if you turn the ignition key to the ON position...not starting the car, and leave it on for ten minutes minimum without touching anything it will reset itself.

If the antitheft system is armed and isn't recognizing the key for starting, the dealer should be the next place it should be towed for reprogramming the key to the computer.

you can remove the ignition switch (the electrical part) from the ignition lock (the key and lock part} and put a screwdriver in the switch part, and turn it like it was the key. as far as the anti theft part goes it may be an aftermarket alarm system installed on the starter circuit.
if that is the case it usually only keeps it from turning over not running.
so you may be able to just bypass a relay,
Look for a wire that someone cut in half up by the switch, and attached there own wire to both ends. just remove there wires and reattach, or temperarily jumper the factory wire back together. see if it turns over.

1999 Nissan Maxima-wont start, no injector pulse

I have a service manual. I suppose you are talking about the anti-theft system. It says that if there is power going to the starter when you try and start that the anti-theft system is ok and that means that it is allow the car to start. If there is not power to the starter then your anti-theft system is stopping the car from starting for some reason.
