there could be a short somewhere in the wires
SOURCE: I have a code PO 442, PO 455 in my 2003 dodge
The p0442 is a moderate leak in the EVAP control system and p0455 is a large leak in the EVAP control system. First thing is to ensure that your filler cap is on tight and that the seal is effective. Next is to check the tubing of the EVAP system for any holes or disconnections. The P1404 is the valve in your EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) is staying closed. It could also be that the EGR piping is clogged up with soot (baked carbon deposits). Similarly the p0404 is an EGR related error code. Your vehicle is quite new and it would be unusual for the EGR to pack up or require cleaning out so early in its life. I would make sure that the connector pins in the connection socket to the EGR are clean and bright and that there no breaks in the wiring back to the power control module. If no joy then remove the EGR and examine the freedom of movement of the valve. If gummed up spray liberally with carburettor cleaner spray and leave to stand for at least ten minutes before wiping away the crud. Repeat until the valve looks like new and reinstall. After four or five restarts without fault the error code should clear.
