The cars idling speed is too slow. Then the alternator cannot produce enough voltage to power any electrical devices. The idling air control valve is dirty or defective. You are lucky that the car has not stalled out yet.

Battery or Alternator Please help ?!?!?

The battery is only used to power the starter motor, the electronics and the accessories like the lights, AC and radio. Disconnecting it when the engine is running won't stop the engine.
This sounds like it might be a faulty sensor somewhere on the engine. You will need to get the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic system or an OBD2 scanner to check for Trouble Codes. These will give clues to where the issue could be.
If you have to pay for this service ask at 4 or 5 different places as prices can be VERY different. Comment below with the codes and I'll try to help you more.

Have the new alternator checked out...flickering the headlights have nothing to do with the alternator...when you turn off the head lights just helps the alternator to send more voltage to the battery...when you give it gas it help the alternator increase the charge...you should not have to do all that...check you drive belt make sure is tight...alternator may need to be replace.

Lights flickering at idle stops when accelerating

increase idle rpm's to around 750-800 and there will not be a problem. another way is to put a smaller drive pulley on the alternator or a bigger drive pulley on the crankshaft.

My car has been having a rough idle with backfire and flickering lights.

Raymond, is this a stick shift or automatic? Here are some general solutions to your problem, it might not be the one, but its a start. 1.Rough idle could be caused by dirty fuel injectors, dirty air filters, fuel pump not delivering enough fuel to the engine. The air filter is an easy check.

Battery meter drops when I come to a stop. My lights flicker inside and out sometimes. I had the alternator tested its good with brand new battery. I've checked my grounds they are decent put not per

It is typical for voltage to go down when you are idling the motor. You say you had the alternator tested and the battery is new and grounds are good. You shuldnt see a big drop - still, new cars and trucks have a hefty appetite for electricity. I presume your regulator was also tested with the alternator. If you are still concerned, I suggest you have your mechanic take another look see.

First have battery checked at a Interstate battery place or equivelant. All issues point to low voltage. A shorted battery will cause the alternator not to work.
