Both the previous answers would get you to the cause of your problem but i would use a volt meter rather than a bulb or fuse as you could cause a power surge that may cause more damage to the electronics as a draw above a few milliamps could be enough to fry some circuitry , so just be very care full what procedure you adopt , keep me posted if you wish

Make up a test lamp by soldering two wires to a 12 v lamp.
Remove the + batt. terminal and connect the lamp between the terminal and the battery terminal.
If you have a short, the lamp will light up rather brightly. You can now trace the short by removing one element of the electrical system at a time, for example remove the headlamp relay and see if the 12v lamp is still on, if yes, replace the relay and check the starter solenoid etc. The minute you get to the short, the lamp will go out.
You could also just take an old fuse and solder the two wires of your test lamp to the two connectors of the fuse, and replace the fuse. (Keep the battery connected).
Enjoy the hunt!

40amp fuse to fuse block keeps blowing (fuse #3 in the manual)what color is the wire off this fuse so I can trace this to the fuse block this is on a 1992 jeep Cherokee laredo

Confused. #3 in the diagrams is 10 amp dome light. Are you talking about the starter relay fuse that powers the solenoid? That circuit has a red wire from the ignition switch to the fuse. After the fuse, the wire is black/red to the start relay. After the relay, the wire is brown to the starter solenoid.

I have a 2004 chevy surban that keeps blowing the ignition fuse what can cause this

You have a direct short to ground on that power feed circuit . You need to find a power distribution diagram to see what all gets is power from that fuse . Isolate the circuits till the fuse doesn't blow any more , then trace out that circuit that blows the fuse .

Which Ignition fuse ? Which fuse box is it in ? under hood , passenger compartment ?

Could be ignition switch problem , Chevy has had problems with them .

Interier fuse keeps blowing on start

It will be a dead short causing the fuse to blow. It could be in the starter motor or associated solenoid. Or in the glow plug relay circuit. Disconnect the glow plugs from the power wire to ensure they are not causing it, they probably wont be. N try to find the relay that operates them and un plug that. It will become a process of elimination. I hope that helps

94 olds cutlas blows 40amp ignition switch fuse, why

You may have to find a shop that specializes in electrical work, or get a shop manual to be able to check every circuit on that fuse.
It includes most of the ignition system as well as the accessories.

No power to ignition switch. All fuses good. ASD power splice good. Battery good. Headlights, interior lights, horn, emergency flashers all work. No power to instrument cluster, multifunction switch,...

i would say you have a mains problem?any car that blows a 40amp fuse has a big fault.you have a direct short in the alternator/starter/battery area.take a very close look, as this type of fault will show its face pretty quick, check all heavy wires to and from starter/battery,and if satisafied get the alternator checked as it could be the problem.adrian,,,
