Try to pull your steering wheel hard both ways left first then right and try to turn your key at the same time.as you are pulling on the wheel

The key/ignition switch needs to be replaced. Very common in newer GM vehicles. The key either wont turn, wont go in, or the key wont release from the tumbler. Check with a local Chevy dealer to see if there has been a recall issued for this. But you will need to have it serviced regardless.
if it is a in floor shifter take the cover off and there is a pink are red button for emergencies push it ,I know it sounds crazy,if not look at the linkage iunder the car,or check I think that year came optional with a anti theft option check that there is a order to unlock everything like put your foot on the brake the the key in and turn the steering wheel and it will lock .I am not sure of the order but it is something like that but I had the same problem and it was the pink button ,and that button is for when the cable brakes so it gives you other options
