Why is my 2006 hyundai sonata making a rattling noise when i accelerate? I don't hear it when the car is idling. I only hear it for a few seconds after I step on the gas.
That sounds like what we call "spark knock" that occurs when u accellerate quickly, but yes it will go away in a few seconds when the computer detects this condition. with the economy the way it is it will be more expensive, but try running higher octane gasoline in it, should cure this condition. hope that helped you!!

My 04 Sonata, with only 33K miles on it, has the same problem. I was planning on trying new plugs and air filter, but undrdg70's comment makes me think that might not help. I wonder if disconnecting the battery cable and putting it back on might cause the computer to reset and resolve the problem?
