That sounds like what we call "spark knock" that occurs when u accellerate quickly, but yes it will go away in a few seconds when the computer detects this condition. with the economy the way it is it will be more expensive, but try running higher octane gasoline in it, should cure this condition. hope that helped you!!

My 04 Sonata, with only 33K miles on it, has the same problem. I was planning on trying new plugs and air filter, but undrdg70's comment makes me think that might not help. I wonder if disconnecting the battery cable and putting it back on might cause the computer to reset and resolve the problem?

2006 Hyundai Sonata 3.3 - 6 cylinder. Is there a Transmission filter in a 3.3 6cyl 2006 sonata please?

Question edited for clarity add maker and 'year make model engine' in the correct order.
Question moved from Misc, to 'make year' model category.

Apparently it does.

How do I know if my transmission filter needs to be changed?
Grinding noises, transmission leaks, burning smells, noisy idling, and shifting delays are all common symptoms of a clogged filter. If you notice any of these, take your car to a transmission auto repair shop.

Hyundai sonata power steering

It could be a leaking hose, and the PS fluid is dropping on the hot exhaust. Check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir. If low or dry, look for a leak.
I don't know about the rattling-better have someone look at it.

My car sounds like a small airplane when i accelerate

Have a trained diagnostic tech listen to this noise, as you can imagine diagnosing a noise on this computer link is really impossible, you need to hear it first hand.

Hyundai Balance Shaft Bearing making noise?

Possible. It's hard to give you an accurate cause, since I'm not able
to hear the sound. Most of the time, when you hear a slight wrapping
sound, it's a rod bearing,or crank bearing. When the rod bearing goes,
you'll know it,since it will knock like an SOB.

High pitch noise like a powerstering pump

When does this happen? When you're turning? When the car is cold? Under acceleration? I need more info before I can make any suggestions.

Rattling from the engine when I start the 2006 V6 Sonata

Do you have the air conditioning on when you hear this rattle? If so, it could the clutch for the a/c compressor. You may also want to check the status of the idler pulley on the serpentine belt. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Noisy startup when cold, sounds like valve

Hello onarock844...The Hyundai 2.4 litre and the 3.3 litre are known to have valve train noise. Some sooner than others.
The timing chain tensioners on the 06 and 07 Sonata 3.3 engines built before August 4, 2006 are well known for developing wear that allows them to make a tapping or rattling noise for a short time after a cold start. This noise can be mistaken for a lifter noise, although the actual source is in the front cover area of the engine. Hyundai has released a technical service bulletin on this problem, which describes installation of an updated design timing chain tensioner (part #24410-3C300) to correct this noise issue.
Ask your dealer to refer to Hyundai service bulletin #06-20-002 for information...If this has already been corrected,,,and the noise is coming from the upper engine area and not from the timing chain area, then the valve clearance will need to be adjusted. This is done by disassembling the valve train and installing slightly different size tappets to change clearance.
This is a fairly labor intensive process, so if you are still under factory warranty then you will want to go over the dealer's head and get the Hyundai zone rep involved to get it covered before your warranty coverage expires...
I recommend useing a full synthetic engine oil, i know in a few cases where the noise has stopped when the oil was changed over to synthenic, also a high quality filter is important, such as a purolator.
Good luck...i hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.
