It sounds like you are in Limp Mode. Check for DTC Codes on a professional grade scan tool computer. It will show the diagnostics and the codes show the fix.

Do you mean turn it off? You can't ignore the check engine light. go to Auto Zone and borrow a OBDII connect it under the dashboard with the ignition on, and write down the engine codes, and then seach on line about the description of those codes in order to fix it, after the repair has been done, erase it with the OBDII. I hope this help you.

go to local Autozone or similiar parts seller... they will check it for free and give you a printout of what's needed...
probably just an O2 sensor on the 98 nissan, but I would replace catalytic converter if near 200k miles for GP.

The warning light is on because the computer found a problem that will affect engine performance and emissions.
You would need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed. Most auto parts stores will scan for free.

Rear 02 is catalytic convertor here the thing 5 spped and automatic will not make a difference on the engine management it doenst manage transmission control it seperate in the ECM if you have the old one the prom is removable is you dont lets deal with what you got the rear or is a heated circuit so you need to check for 12 volts on the white wire and ground at the black if it all check out then you need to check the signal wire for activity if you get a lot of activivy you got a bad catalytic

very easy,google what it looks like, you'll find it at the top of the engine head.

The EGR valve needs to be changed out.....Hope this helps you out.........Very enexpensive.

Replace the oil sending unit and if it continues,have your oil pump replaced before it goes completely
