Make dure you installed the alternator cortectly. If do, you were probably sold a bad alternator. Take the alternator to the parts store you bought it at. The will.test it and refund your money, or replace it.

SOURCE: battery not charging light comes on. new battery

I don't know what kink of car you have, but some will have a alternator fuse, also with a volt meter check voltage on big wire at back of alternator should have 13.5 + volt's, then check voltage at battery should have same voltage there also, do this with car running, if you do not have same voltage at battery less short between alternator and battery or bad fuse. There also some fuse links at starter on some car's.

SOURCE: new battery and alternator. Battery still won't hold charge

Check all your fuses if you had a system failure it could have blown a fuse. I am not sure on your vehicle where the fuse is in the car or under the hood it could also have a relay. You can check your alternator by checking the voltage at the back of the alternator where the big wire bolts on. You should have 14+ volts at the alternator.

71 c10 not staying charged... new battery alternator fuses good and new voltage regulator

Maybe it wasn't running long enough to charge up the battery?
Stop trying to jump it, when you are having problems with it dying, take the battery off and have it charged. And/or buy a $20 voltmeter to see what the battery shows. If it says less than 12 volts, it is discharged, and needs charging. A good battery that is not run down should have at least 12.5 volts. A new battery that is charged should have very close to 13 volts, maybe 12.8 volts.
When you have the truck running, check the alternator for charging. You put the voltmeter right on the battery and check it again. This time, with truck running, battery should show at least 13.5 volts. That shows the alternator is working. A good alternator will put out about 13 or 14 volts-the regulator will keep it from going any higher to prevent problems, like a melting battery or electrical parts burning out.
I would say get the charging system working right, then address the problem of dying at stop lights. That could be a carburetor problem, if the alternator is working.

I suggest to check some paraticis drain and ground connections. Additionally, check and test alternator charging.

2007 Chevy Aveo Sedan alternator issue? Could it be something like a fuse? Battery is new.

If the alternator is good and the battery is not being charged, yes there is a fuse or fuseable link between the alternator and battery.
If the problem comes and goes, like you can drive the car for several days then it acts up, I would look for a wiring problem.

New alternature wont charger battery

Does the alternator light come on before you start the vehicle..
If not the alternater is incorrectly connected or the globe is blown . It will not charge if the globe is faulty.

My 2004 chevy cavalier last week i was leaving the store and the light to pull out of the shopping center my battery light come on and car died. a jump wouldnt start it back up i changed the battery and it...

if the electrical system is not keeping the battery charged you should clean the contacts on the battery terminals and wires and then if that doesn't work your alternator might be fried, its what restores the power to the battery after starting... if the starter won't turn the car over it might need a solenoid or replaced. finally make sure you check the relavent fuses. sometimes the simplest explaination is the best.

Battery or alternator

I suggest you pull the battery and alternator then take them to a auto parts store for testing. Most major chain stores will do this for free. Another alternative is to get the car running with a jump or battery swap. After you get the car running remove the positve (red) battery cable. If the engine dies the alternator is not working. If the alternator is bad you will want to get your battery checked. The alternator going out could have damaged the battery so that it will not hold a full charge. Good Luck!

1995 bmw 318is new alternator battery dieing

Re-check the battery cables at both ends. If the cables/connections are good, there's no reason a new battery shouldn't hold a charge, even one that's been drained. If the connections are good, it's possible you either got a bad battery or it was sitting on the shelf for a while before you bought it. If this was the case, a good slow charge should solve your problem but if it doesn't I'd bring the battery back to the retailer and have it replaced. Hope this answers your question and All the best!
