What's the difference between the master cylinder with or without traction control

Tried to replace master cylinder without traction control but the ports for the brake lines were too small. My car doesn't have the traction control option.

The parts-store gave you the wrong part. If you still have it, take the old part with you to the parts store. Just match it with the new one before you pay for it.

As for the traction-control matter, the difference has little to do with the master cylinder. In traction control, a computer and wheel-mounted sensors keep the wheels from skidding by turning the hydrolic pressure on and off to the individual wheels according to which one is or is not skidding.

SOURCE: I have a 1998 town and country with traction

I had a similar problem with my anti-lock brake.
One of the will wear down. I took it to the dealer, could not tell why.
Until one day the a brake light came on. It was a bad sensor. Replace the bad sensor and the problem went away.
The mechanic plug a portable instrument and drive the car around until he find out. (The brake light came on, then off.)
This anti-lock brake system is control by sensors and it one is not functioning properly then you have a problem.
I do hope this help you.

SOURCE: 2003 town and country brake problem

Did your mechanic use a DRB III or equivalent scanner before performing the bleeding procedure after installing the master cylinder? This is a requirement by the manufacturer (Chrysler) when bleeding the brake system.

SOURCE: Hi! I'm looking for a diagram of the master

just put something underneath and catch the fluid ,then when you have finished and refill you will have cahnged the brake fluid anyway ,if the brake pipe is corroded then you live in a wet climate and the fuid needs changing more often than in a desert climate.

My 2008 hummer h3 got C0136 Base brake system pressure circuit error on DTC and displays waning Traction off, Service stab sys. Whats the exact problem and any part to be replaced?

DTC C0136: Base Brake System Pressure Circuit
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors an internal input from the master cylinder pressure sensor to enhance antilock brake system (ABS) braking and vehicle stability if equipped.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
• When vehicle speed is more than 7 km/h (4 mph), the master cylinder pressure does not change for 30 seconds with the brake applied.
• When vehicle speed is more than 10 km/h (6 mph), the master cylinder pressure signal is erratic.
• Master cylinder pressure signal is out of range.
• Master cylinder pressure is high for 5 seconds with the stop lamp switch signal OFF.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
• The EBCM disables traction control system (TCS) and vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
• A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

Diagnostic Aids
The master cylinder pressure sensor is located internally in the Master Cylinder and is not serviceable.

Circuit/System Verification
Important: It is recommend that the defective components be replaced, and not the complete brake master cylinder assembly.
Verify that DTCs C0131, P0719, P0724 are not set.
? If any of the DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
Replace the EBCM.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
Control Module References for EBCM and BPMV replacement, setup, and programming

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

What does trac light mean?

you need to service or repair traction control check fuses AND YES you can drive it for your trip --- --traction control explained as follows A traction control system (TCS), in German known as Antriebsschlupfregelung (ASR), is typically (but not necessarily) a secondary function of the electronic stability control (ESP) on production motor vehicles, designed to prevent loss of traction of driven road wheels. TCS is activated when throttle input and engine torque are mismatched to road surface conditions.
Intervention consists of one or more of the following:
  • Brake force applied to one or more wheels
  • Reduction or suppression of spark sequence to one or more cylinders
  • Reduction of fuel supply to one or more cylinders
  • Closing the throttle, if the vehicle is fitted with drive by wire throttle
  • In turbocharged vehicles, a boost control solenoid is actuated to reduce boost and therefore engine power.
Typically, traction control systems share the electrohydraulic brake actuator (which does not use the conventional master cylinder and servo) and wheel speed sensors with ABS.The basic idea behind the need for a traction control system is the loss of road grip that compromises steering control and stability of vehicles because of the difference in traction of the drive wheels. Difference in slip may occur due to turning of a vehicle or varying road conditions for different wheels. At high speeds, when a car tends to turn, its outer and inner wheels are subjected to different rotation speeds, which is conventionally controlled by using a differential. A further enhancement of the differential is to employ an active differential that can vary the amount of power being delivered to outer and inner wheels as needed. For example, if outward slip is sensed while turning, the active differential may deliver more power to the outer wheel in order to minimize the yaw (essentially the degree to which the front and rear wheels of a car are out of line.) Active differential, in turn, is controlled by an assembly of electromechanical sensors collaborating with a traction control unit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traction_control_system

Does my master cylinder have traction or no?

Plymouth master cylinders had traction or not based on the model, year and engine type. Input that information into the search tool at AutoPartsWarehouse dot com (or any parts site, really,) and it'll tell you what you need. Also, if you try RetailMeNot.com, there's often a coupon code so you can get a small discount on your part. Good luck!

2001 ford windstar lx master cylinder new i replaced but abs n brake light come on

Needs to have code reset for abs by a obd2 code reader with abs or find a parts house or shop that will reset it. Brake light coming on did you bleed the master cylinder out by connecting rubber lines to ths plastic insert ******* then acuating the master cylinder til all air is pumped out of master cylinder if that was not done then you will need to bleed all brakes until air is out of system that should turn brake light off

Master Cylinder? HELP!

Hi Jacki, If you are losing brake fluid it must be leaking from somewhere and the places are limited. Fluid can leak from any one of the four wheel brake cylinders, the master cylinder, the ABS pump and valve unit, the master cylinder or cracked or broken metal or flexible brake pipes. Wherever the leakage is, it must be visible and detectable, as the fluid will make the area wet, If you look at each one of the four wheels, I'm sure one will have been marked by the leakage. The ABS / Traction control are separate from the Emergency brake warning light. The latter (E Brake) warns of loss of brake fluid. Whenever you top up it will extinguish, but illuminating again when the fluid has leaked out! The ABS and Traction control warnings will come on when an electronic signal fail to be transmitted and thereby triggering a fault code. These codes will be extinguished when the vehicle is connected to a scanner and the faults are deleted from the vehicle computers memory. You will most likely find that the wheel cylinder which is leaking has contaminated the pick up sensor which sends the signal to the ABS / Traction system. It will likely need removing, cleaning and then refitting. I am very sure that if you take a flashlight and lay down, even without crawling under the vehicle, you can identify where the leakage is, and point it out to those experts who it would seem have been misleading you. I doubt the leakage will be on the master cylinder, as having two unrelated faults would seem to be stretching coincidence a little far. (But I may be wrong and two problems may have come separately together! I believe the two are related to one wheel cylinder which has contaminated a sensors, The leakage is the most serious problem, as it can leave you without brakes! have that seen to very urgently! In fact NOW!!!! Regards John

Does the 1990 Lexus LS400 master cylinder come with traction control?

traction control is a separate system. If traction control or ABS is a problem they are taken out of the loop and the normal brakes still work. The master is for the brake system/ The ABS module and valve body and wheel sensors are your traction/antiskip system.

2002 honda accord tcs light comes on and will not go off

I assume tht is traction control. Check fuses ,eeven abs fuses ,traction control is part of abs. If fuses ok will need scan tool to find cause of lite going on. Most common are abs sensors and broken abs wires. And if abs tone ring is part of axle shaft some rock may have damaged teeth of ring .

2001 Mercury Grand Marquis brake and ABS dash lights on and off

The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.
