Code 300 is for a random miss which could be ignition or fuel related.
The problem is not yet bad enough for the engine computer to pick just one cylinder.

Eng. runs a little ruff cheek eng. lite blinks when I step on the gas what couln it be ?

You should know that a flashing check engine light means that if you drive it, you could cause damage to the engine. To see what the issue is, go to a big auto parts store and get an OBD reader to check the engine computer and see what error codes are present.

I have 01 trooper replaced gas cap now check engine light off, but I have a p0300 code will it pass smog.?.

Many states will not pass a vehicle with a check engine light.

The P03000 code you have has little to do with the gas cap, rather it is a random misfire code. read more about this code and possible fixes in the link below. Good luck!

Cycle your key on (not start) then off, on, off, then on and leave it on. Now count the flashes from the "check engine light" and get back to us with those codes. It will flash a 2 digit number, but pause briefly between numbers. For example: 3 flashes, pause, then 3 more flashes is code 33. 1 flash, pause , then 5 more would be code 15. When you get 5 flashes, pause, then 5 more, that's code 55 and it just means end of message or codes. You'll also get a short pause between codes as well, so have a pad and paper ready and keep your eyes on the check engine light.

P0300

Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.

A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective computer
