What I do, in my service department, is to pull the transmission and the transfer case as on unit. It is faster, and much simpler. There is no reason to pull them separately. That is way too much work.

There is always a guage there. Fill and use the guage to determine wat amount but do not exceed the guage line.

do you mean the actual gear for the speedometer? if so no they don't, but of course the cable must be disconnected
