Get a fuel pressure gauge and check the pressure at the fuel rail. Also have some one open the gas cap and listen when you turn the car to on and not start and try to hear if the fuel pump is priming. You will hear a quick whirl of the motor. Chances are your fuel pump went out. It could be a clogged fuel filter but doubt it. If you have fuel pressure at your rail check your PATS system. something might have gone haywire.

My 02 mountaineer wont start its out of time how do i fix it

It is computer controlled-how would it be out of time?

You now see that changing parts- is not a diagnostic
solution that leads to success

You need to know the systems your working on &
how to test them

How about a repair shop !!

2001 mercury mountaineer starts fine but sometimes won't start at all

It can be the issue with weak battery or faulty battery or if battery is ok,then its faulty starter causing the issue.

2005 mercury mountaineer wont start, no clicking no nothing, then all of a sudden it starts. whats going on?

when it won't crank you will need to start at the battery and work your way to the starter checking for voltage
battery - cables - ignition switch - neutral safety switch - starter

Turns over but won't start. Fuel system 1 closed loop Fuel system 2 closed loop what does this mean?

Closed loop the ECM is using the feedback from the 02 sensor, open loop the ECM ignores the 02 sensor, this is a emission strategy on the vehicle, has nothing to do with the car not starting.

At slow speeds my 02 Mountaineer turns like its in 4-low.

have the transfer case fluid changed, this is a symptom of worn out fluid, also add a bottle of friction modifier to the case.
