the security system need to be reset, plug your charger back on the battery then turn the ignition switch on and leave it on untill the security warning light turns off (about 10 to 20 Min) then turn the key to off wait 5sec then turn the car on it should be good to go, this solves this kind of problem 9 out of 10. good luck
This sounds like a broken or failing antitheft security system. Gm vehicles are known for this problem. Look for a light on the dash when this happens. It will say SECURITY, ANTITHEFT, or look like a car with a padlock thru it. When this system fails, the car will run for 5 seconds or less and then shut off, thinking that it is being stolen. This link explains this problem.
the theft system is part of the main computer, you will need to change the ignition lock and get a key to remedy the issue, unfortunately there is not an alarm kill
Hello: Will try to give you instructions: Attempt to start car, leave key on (security light flashing) let set for 10 minutes, After 10 minutes security light out. Turn key off for ten seconds, turn key on, let set for 10 minutes, turn key off for 10 seconds. turn key back on let set 10 minutes, turn key off for ten seconds, the engine should now start and stay running.
well it has passlock two and this is common with these cars. never seen the other issue to accompany it but if you do a relearn of the key and it starts then it could be two different issue's but if it don't work then they are related.
a relearn of the key is done with the ebrake up to keep the day time running lights off ( not an issue for you) but do it anyway. put key in the ignition and turn it to the on postion right before crank for 10 sec. turn it off for 10 sec. then turn it back on for 10 mins. repeat two more times back off for 10 sec. and then back on for 10 mins. it is cruishle you try to keep with in the times or very close. 10 seconds and 10 minuites three times and that will relearn the key and if it starts then you may have two issue's but hard to tell with out testing. but i think this is the best thing you can do for now.
i have a customer that can't afford the passlock module and labor so i taught her this and she is better then me now at it. lol... but like i said very common issue. let me know if you have any more question. good luck
Try to start the leve key on for 10 min, turn off (wait 10 sec) then try to start again and leve on for 10 min again, turn off and try again wait 10 min, turn off for 30 sec and then start engine.
