ESC OFF is switch on

Yes, and press the switch and ESC will turn on. The switch enables or disables the ESC. When you turn off the vehicle and turn it back on, the ESC will automatically turn on regardless of whether it was on or off when you last turned the car off. If you want to keep the ESC disabled, you will need to push the button each time you start the car. The ESC is not the ESCape hatch. It is the Electronic Stabilization Control. This is a computer operated system of interworking devices that help keep the car stabilized and driving correctly. It includes the antilock braking system, the antiskid system and the traction control system (if equiped).

What does the ESC light on my Hyundai entourage mean? what does the acronym even stand for?

Your owner's manual says = Electronic Stability Control. Optimum driving safety now has a name : ESC, the Electronic Stability Control. ESC recognizes critical driving conditions, such as panic reactions in dangerous situations, and stabilizes the vehicle by wheel-individual braking and engine control intervention with no needfor actuating the brake or the gas pedal. ESC adds a further function known as Active Yaw Control (AYC) to the ABS, TCS, EBD and ESC functions. Whereas the ABS/TCS function controls wheel slip during braking and acceleration and, thus, mainly intervenes in the longitudinal dynamics of the vehicle, active yaw control stabilizes the vehicle about its vertical axis. This is achieved by wheel individual brake intervention and adaptation of the momentary engine torque with no need for any action to be taken by the driver. ESC essentially consists of three assemblies : the sensors, the electronic control unit and the actuators. Of course, the stability control feature works under all driving and operating conditions. Under certain driving conditions, the ABS/TCS function can be activated simultaneously with the ESC function in response to a command by the driver. In the event of a failure of the stability control function, the basic safety function, ABS, is still maintained.

What and where is the est circuit connector on a 1989 chevy pick up 2500 5.7liter.

Hello johnballard8: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. I assume you are looking for the est wire in order to set the timing. Look in the area of the distributor. Usually on the left side. Locate a single wire (tan with a black stripe) Should be taped to the engine wire harness. This is the est wire remove the tape and unplug the connector. This will set truck to base timing. After you set timing reconnect the wire. You may need to reset the computer as this operation will set a code in the ecm. Just disconnect the battery for 10 seconds and this will clear the codes. Be sure to disconnect the negative cable so as not to spike the ecm. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

ESC light on/Now it says ESC OFF

Electronic Stability Control (or ESC) is a new crash avoidance system found on many vehicles. Unlike air bags, which only help you during a collision, ESC will help you to avoid loss of control that could lead to a collision.
ESC is designed to help you stay in control of your vehicle during an emergency manoeuvre, such as when you need to swerve or brake suddenly to avoid an obstacle.
ESC monitors your steering versus the direction of the vehicle. When they do not match, ESC will automatically actuate the brakes at one or more wheels for short periods of time, reduce engine power, or both. If at all possible, ESC will help you maintain control of your vehicle.
ESC is automatically "ON" whenever you start your vehicle. Some vehicles have an ESC Off switch; this switch is needed to disable ESC during certain situations such as when you are stuck in snow. If your vehicle has an ESC Off switch, refer to the vehicle owner's manual for more information. Unless you manually shut ESC Off, it will remain active until you turn the engine off.
