If you are referring to the car's computer and the light coming on is the 'check engine' light, then you need to find out WHY the light is coming on. If you don't already have one, buy a basic OBD reader (+/- $20 on Amazon), plug it into the OBD port (usually under the dash near the hood release lever) and see what the OBD error code registers. You can then decide what to do. My unit also has the facility to delete the error codes, but when the computer goes through another check cycle, the light will come back on.

Thanks Edmund. I did plug an OBD reader in and it said prime the ignition. I forgot to say that I've recently replaced my pencil coils but even if I put back the old ones the light is still coming on.

I just replaced the ECU, but my airbag, abs, and brake light won't clear on my dash. Did you hook up a professional or factory scan tool an check for codes in all the modules on the vehicle ?

Car wont start 1996

the ecu controls the power to the pump and injectors. are you getting error on every test on reader that can be the ignition relay. its in the dash when you turn the key should hear it go click click. if just one click then one side of it has gone. there is the low volt side, ignition interior dash lights etc. high volts is ecu abs, air bags. etc. low volts go to the abs and ecu but when engine started it needs the high volts to be there to run.

1994 jeep grand cherokee 5.2 turn over but wont start

If the check engine light does not light up, on the dash, before trying to start the jeep then the computer ecu may be in need of repair. If the check light does come on before cranking, then it might be on of a number of sensors that has gone bad.

I have a Jeep 4.0 It is getting an intermediate spark and No pluse

Might be your ecu is gone bad. It would display those symptoms. Does the check engine light illuminate on the dash when you turn the ignition on? If not then the ecu is in need of repair.

Is there a way to reset computer for check engine

2 ways. Go to auto zone & get free scan to get DTC codes and have them erase. Or, disconnect your battery for an hour. It may run rough for 10 miles as it relearns strategy, but codes should be gone.

May come back if issue still there. Get codes & report back or Google the codes,

Engine turn over but do but start no fire or spark

If no spark and you also do not hear the fuel pump prime when you turn on the ignition, then the ecu has probably gone bad and needs repair. Does your check engine light come on the dash, when you turn the ignition to on, before cranking? If not, the ecu will need to be repaired or replaced. If your check engine light comes on, then maybe it's the crank sensor that's bad.

95 grand cherokee no start, it turns over but won;t start, trying to find the pcm connector pin out diagram

If you don't have a check engine light that lights up on the dash when you turn your ignition key to on, then your ecu has gone bad, internally.
