All the above relevant. Check oil level first. Check if the right oil as prescribed by the manufacturer has been used. If unsure drain the oil and refill with recommended oil as per manufacturer. Oil light should not come on when the vehicle idles - adjust engine idle speed slightly higher - between 800 to 1000 rpm . Use thicker oil if the previous options does not solve the problem. The higher the last number the thicker the oil. Try to stick to the first number as it is the start up or winter oil thickness number ( don't want the oil to be to thick during start up) Therefor go for example to 10W-30 to 10W-40. If this does help the oil pump is on its way out. Wynns Charge can be added for a short term solution but the engine need to be opened and the oil pump replaced - expensive!
Check viscosity of engine oil being used. 1) If to thin, light will come on as a result of low oil pressure reading. 2. Oil pressure sensor may have failed "low point" setting. 3: Engine idle, although computer controlled, may be running slower than required also resulting in oil pressure light coming on and then going off when fuel is applied. 4) Rare: Worn bearing or sleeve resulting in low oil pressure at low rpms, however, engine noise i.e. slap would be noticed at higher rpms.
That's normal.
Oil pressure is always low at the start and at idle. Pressure goes up with increasing RPM, but should not go too high.
All cars will have a minimum and maximum oil pressure. $0 to %0 is a good average.
Hope this helps.
