you can pull negative battery cable and put test light on negative battery post, when lights up pull a fuse from fuse panel and if light goes out then thats where the short is, if light stays on then go to the next fuse
Does the sound change while accelerating or decelerating?? If it does i would suspect a carrier bearing or a pinion bearing going bad..If its consistant,,and doesnt change with acceleration or deceleration,,then it may be a axle bearing..
open the tail gate you will se 2 scerws remove them now pull the light asy out just pull twards the rear like if the truck is facing north pull south it will come out but you need to pull hard now you have the tail light asy in your hands twist the light socet and then you will see the light pull the light out from the socet
start with a fluid change.its the cheapest. chk the fluid as it comes out for metal flakes. you may have sticky parts. drain , fill with diesel and turn tires by hand, let sit for half hour and turn the tires again.do this three or four times then drain and replace fluid and modifier.

Try turning the socket that holds the bulb to the left and pull it out to get to the bulb some times these get so hot that they start to melt so it might be hard to turn
If you are refering to the Keyless entry code it may be on a white wallet card in the owners manual package. If your truck was bought used it may be with the previous owner.
