Where do i find a gear shift boot for a 2005 Lincoln Town Car? Not available from Lincoln.

when you shift it out of park and you think you are in drive cut car off and leave it in gear try starting it if it starts it is the shift cable you are not leaving park try it it is free the cable or plastic connector on the tranny could be broke

Ive done it a few times in the 90's but cant remember now but go grab a Haynes repair manual from your local parts store it will help with almost all repairs.

shift cable trouble

check the bolts on the linkage going from the column to the transmission. probably just need tightening. (generally the bolt ON the transmission shift plate that connects into the transmission shaft is loose) Probably takes a 10 mm socket

It sounds like your shift interlock is not working. There is a switch on the brake pedal that activates a solonoid that unlocks the shifter. Try moving the shifter up twards park then apply the brake and try to pull out of park. If it does not release then you may start by cleaning the solonoid.

shifter can be removed with shifter boot out of the way, and pushing down and turning round collar at base of shifter to the left or right, with shift lever out it should be easy to tell weather the bottom of shift lever is worn or broken off.

u must to check the Clutch and its Disk it's may be worn so consequently u need to change it with new one.
