If the engine is running rich, you should have a check engine light on. If you do, have the computer scanned for trouble codes. It could be a fuel leak in the line or around the injectors too.
Sounds like you need to check your converter. May be trying to stop up. Eventualy you may smell fumes. Take to a muffler shop and have it checked. It's hard to say this is what it is but it's where i would start. You may have got'en some bad gas somewhere. Good Luck to you.

Sounds a lot like an overheated engine.
The electric cooling fan should run after turning off the ignition when it is hot if this is like most vehicles and prevents heat buildup in fuel lines.
Try flooring the gas pedal and leave it there while you crank the engine.
This will prevent flooding the engine with fuel and give the engine a leaner mix to start.
