Rear Compartment Lid Release Circuit Description

The BCM receives a signal via Class II from the PCM indicating the position of the transaxle range switch. When you press the release button on the RKE transmitter, a signal is sent from the remote control door lock receiver through circuit 377 to the BCM. Then, the BCM sends a ground signal through circuit 253 to the rear compartment lid release relay. The relay receives power from the DOOR LOCKS fuse. When the relay receives the ground from the BCM, the relay's internal switch closes sending B+ (via circuit 56) to the rear compartment lid lock release actuator. A ground is always supplied to the actuator through circuit 350. When B+ is received at the actuator through circuit 56, the rear compartment lid releases.

Hi Annette, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Annette, if you are already able to get inside the trunk, remove the lever that goes to the lock actuator because the actuator may be locked up. Then see if it will open. NOTE: If the lock solenoid is mounted to the latch this will not work. If that doesn't help, then see if you can remove the bolts that hold the latch to the trunk and open the trunk that way so you can see better what the problem could be. Keep me posted at my auto-repair-website here: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

The key you are using might be a valet key. Check to see if you can lock your glove box. If you can lock and unlock your glove box with the key then there is something wrong with your trunk lock. If the key does not work in the glove box, then you will need to order a master key from a toyota dealer.

My trunk lid will not open on my 2005 nissan sentra. The remote not opening (do hear it click) and the inside button and key not working to open the trunk either

Just beneath the latch ,you can see a clip, turn it up and close the trunk.Try opening it with the button near dash or remote. It should work. They designed it to avoid theft during vallet parking. The main key(steel one) is used only for ignition. There is another key(with a black rubber head) is for ignition and trunk. So if you want to avoid missing any items from trunk using vallet parking, use the main key,put the clip down and hand that to the person who is assisting you during vallet parking.

Trunk does not open with button inside car. Does open with key remote. Is there a bad fuse somewhere and if so which one?

Your Valet cancel switch is set.

Open your glovebox and you will see a pushbutton on the the left side, if memory serves. When this button is set, the power button will be disabled, but the key fob button will still work.
This is for when you Valet your car, you push the cancel button in the glovebox, lock the glovebox, then give the Valet your Valet key, which will not open the trunk or the glovebox. Voila, no Valet rummaging through your trunk :)

Often full gloveboxes will be the cause of the button getting pushed accidentally.
