Car will start but will not move forward or backwards can u help?

Mke sure that the transmission is working. you can tell if the engine rpm changes when you put it gear (forward or reverse) if it does not then you need to check the level of the transmission fluid for an automatic or you may have clutch problems if it is a manual transmission. if you have more details on the transmission type (auto or manual) and if it is doing anything when you try to get it to move that would be helpful.

My 1991 nissan maxima drives for about 2 minutes it shifts and has plenty of torque. then it will not move in any gear forward or reverse. If you wait a while it will do the same thing it will go forward...

Sorry, no solution. I have the exact same problem and it started about the time you posted your problem. If anyone offers a suggestion, please let me know too. thx.

It sounds like you are starting to develop a serious issue with the inner workings of your transmission, possibly with the torque converter. I'm afraid the only solution to this issue is to have a mechanic look at it, as you might be forced to rebuilt the transmission, or get a used replacement. Unfortunetly they are almost impossible to service yourself, so I would search for someone who can give an assessment and quote for repair, preferably someone who specializes
