SOURCE: Power Steering Pressure Hose

Simple. Remove bolt from pump. Remove 2 10mm bolts that anchor it to the frame. Then disconnect it where the 2 hoses meet just behind the alternator. Takes less than 3 minutes without air tools.

SOURCE: power steering hose was leaking on my 1999 Kia

The first thing I would do is check the power steering fluid and make sure it is full. If the power steering fluid was low after they replaced the line, it is possible that there is air in the system in the form of tiny air bubbles. This will take some time to go away as the air bubbles migrate to the top. If the fluid level is okay and the noise does not go away in a few days, take it back to who replaced the line and have them re-check everything to make sure the line does not have a pinch in it.

  2. Using the deflection method, apply moderate pressure (about 22 lbs) halfway between the pulleys, and compare with the following specifications.
    1. Alternator belt (new): 0.31-0.35 in. (8-9mm)
    2. Alternator belt (used): 0.35-0.39 in. (9-10mm)

    4. A/C compressor and power steering pump belt (used): 0.35-0.39 in. (9-10mm)
  3. If the specifications fall outside the ranges given, adjust the belt as follows:
    1. Loosen the alternator mounting bolt and adjusting bolt.
    2. Adjust the alternator to get the specified belt deflection.
    3. Tighten the bolts, then recheck the tension.

How do you tighten (which bolts)the fan belt and power steering belt

Hello lubyamanda and thank you for asking your question here on fixya.com.

I have actually written a general information article that will walk you through the general process of changing the fan belt on your
2000 Kia Sephia. It will also point you to the resources you need for getting the diagrams of how the belt needs to go back on. Belts usually cost less than $20 and take a few minutes to put them on.
