I have to say head gaskets on a 3.0L VUE is very uncommon. Perhaps you could have the shop who is working on it explain it better and you could follow up because I have seen exactly 1 VUE 3.0L head gasket leak.

Labor to do the water pump and timing belt should be around 4 hours. Maybe a little more if the water pump leaked and made a mess they need to clean up.

How much should it cost to change a timing belt on a 2003 Ford escape

Considering that when you change a timing belt you ALWAYS change the water pump all seals/gaskets, timing belt idler gears, etc. many times that comes all together in a kit.
It can be an average cost of around $1100-1200, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. The main cost will be labor, since it is a fairly time consuming job.

My timing belt popped on my 2003 saturn vue 3.0 v6. I changed the belt but it's still not running what can be the problem

You replace the water pump, pulleys & tensioners,
as a kit, when the belt needs to be replaced

I would assume you didn't follow the instructions that
came with the belt,to time it properly

I have a 100000 miles on my cts took to shop said i need to have the thermosat changed and valve gasket changed wood i need to go ahead and change timeing belt and water pump to

Yes.

Timing belt is rated for 85,000 to 95,000 miles.
You do not want to wait for it to break.

Today's timing belt is being use to drive water pump.

3.2 Liter MPI V6 is modular.
The engine has to come out from the bottom!!!!
It will save you 2-3 hours of labor time to do ALL these work at the same time.

Ask your service advisor to replace all heater hose at the same time to avoid trouble.
Inspect all engine and transmission mounts.

This is going to be costly but it will safe the labor charge now to complete all the tasks at the same time.

Is it really necessary to replace the timing belt at 80,000 miles

Not unless you care about your car. When a car manufacturer recommends that you change a timing belt, and usually a water pump. It is for your own good, they may last an average of 100,000 miles; however, it's always best to change your timing belt well before then. If your timing belt breaks it will bend your valves, ruin your head, and cost a lot in labor. So pay $500- $700 now for a new timing belt, water pump, and labor, or wait until your timing belt breaks and pay $3000 for a new head with valves and labor. It's up to you. Happy Motoring!!! :) :) :)

Amount of time expected to do a head gasket, water pump on a 97 olds achieva 2.2?

I'd expect to pay anywhere from 8-12 hours of labor. A head gasket is a tremendously time-consuming job and takes a lot of work. You'll also be paying for other parts (intake and exhaust manifold gaskets have to be replaced, new coolant, new oil since both are drained before the job starts), and if you're doing a water pump, bite the bullet and do the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, accessory belt(s), and thermostat as well - those are normally done with the water pump and there's no sense in paying the labor twice.

Does a 2004 Vue L4 have a timing chain or belt? When should it be replaced?

Both the 3.0 & 3.5 V6 engines in the Vue use a cam driven by a belt. Both are interference engines and the belt must be replaced at 100,000 miles. Warning: If the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. The water pump is driven by the same belt so I highly recommend you replace it at the same time to save labor cost later on.
