P0042 on Jetta 2006 2.5 engine check

Hi I have replaced Jetta 2.5 2006 O2S b1s3 ( middle Catalyst converter P0042 still the same problem. I checked all fuses left of the driver, and the fuses next to the battery in the engine area. I measured the resistance on the replaced O2S, white wires, 10 Ohms, and from from the female connector side (going some where in the Engine area or the dash board I cant figure out where) Can you help?

SOURCE: replaced distributor in 95 jetta, now it won't start

Go back to bacic timing. put your crack shaft pully on 0 degree. Take the timing belt cover off and make sure that with the crank shaft pully is on o degree the cam shaft pully is align with a mark it has at 12:oo o'clock. If not so, turn the engine one more time using a 12 point 19mm sucket on the crank shaft till you get to 0 again. Do it very slow, it's very presice. when you align those two marks, then take the distribuitors cap off. Rotor should be pointing at cylinder 1 exactly on it. There is mark on the body of ignition to confirm this. Hope this does it. Also check if your cables are mixed up.

SOURCE: 2003 Jetta TDI alternator light came on in dash

Your voltage regulator supplies the path for the control lead of the alternator and varies the amount of current available to provide the magnetic field of the armature with the required strength. Measuring from this lead to ground won't show much voltage.
Apparently the regulator is not integrated into the alternator and is probably failed. If you can chase the control lead backward, you will find the regulator and these are mostly mounted on the fender well or firewall.

SOURCE: 2004 jetta tdi, has engine miss & lack of

Running rough?? If i took a guess I'd say there's a faulty injector. Does it smoke like hell ?? Does it also miss at idle?- If so get a line wrench and a rag handy. Start the car and while idling wrap the rag around the base of the fuel line connector on injector 1 and crack it just a bit until fuel comes out. It might spray, thus the rag. If the miss gets worse, that ain't the injector to blame. Continue with the other 3. If you crack a line and there is no or very little change in the miss then you found the guilty party.

On a long shot it could also be a stuck valve.

Did that get it?? It sounds like an issue other than MAF but.... get a multimeter and try probing the connecter to the MAF. When you find out what it is , please let me know. I'm curious

06 Cadillac STS V8 car has codes P0174 and P0420.

• DTC P0171 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1
• DTC P0174 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2
.
The engine control module (ECM) controls the air/fuel metering system in order to provide the best possible combination of driveability, fuel economy, and emission control. Fuel delivery is controlled differently during Open and Closed Loop. During Open Loop, the ECM determines fuel delivery based on sensor signals without oxygen sensor (O2S) input. During Closed Loop, the O2S inputs are added and used by the ECM to calculate short and long term fuel trim (FT) fuel delivery adjustments. If the O2S indicates a lean condition, FT values will be above 0 percent. If the O2S indicate a rich condition, FT values will be below 0 percent. Short term FT values change rapidly in response to the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) voltage signals. Long term FT makes coarse adjustments in order to maintain an air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1. If the ECM detects an excessively lean condition, DTC P0171 or P0174 sets.
Diagnostic Aids
• Excessive resistance in the fuel injector ignition 1 voltage circuit or the fuel injector control circuit may cause the following symptoms:
- Lean condition
- Misfire
- Rough idle
• The system will go lean if an injector is not suppling enough fuel.
• A lean condition could be present during high fuel demand.
• A malfunctioning MAF sensor can cause this DTC to set. Refer to DTC P0101 .
• Review the Failure Records with a scan. If an intermittent condition is suspected, refer to Intermittent Conditions .

DTC Descriptors
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTCs:
• DTC P0420 Catalyst System Low Efficiency Bank 1
• DTC P0430 Catalyst System Low Efficiency Bank 2

This code could mean the catalytic converter on that bank has failed .

My 2000 2.0 JETTA is failing inspection and the code pulling up is P0422 but I was told the Cat is in good shape, any suggestions?

code p 0422 refers to main cat converter, bank 1 ---efficiency below thresh hold ===causes cat converter,--- wiring -- heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2
heated oxygen sensors are the ones in the exhaust manifolds before the cat converters
they are wired and the wires are delicate and can be easily damaged
O2 sensors (O2s) are found after the cat converters and can determine the quality of the cat performance
At this point I would be looking at the HO2S replacement as that is what the code indicates --IF-- the cat is in proper working condition

Where is the rear "b2 s2" oxygen sensor located in a Jaguar 2003 xtype 2.5liter car? There are 4 oxygen sensors -- one in the front catalytic converter and one next to it by or in the exhaust manifold and...

Oxygen sensors are always numbered like this:
Bank 1 sensor 1
Bank 2 sensor 1
Bank 1 sensor 2
Bank 2 sensor 2

Some manufacturers use a kind of shorthand that reads different, but means the same thing:
Sensor 1/1 or O2s 1/1
Sensor 2/1 or O2s 2/1
Sensor 1/2 or O2s 1/2
Sensor 2/2 or O2s 2/2

Bank 1 is always the side of the engine where cylinder number 1 is located and, of coarse, Bank 2 is the opposite side.
On a 4 cylinder engine, there is only 1 bank and it is always referred to as Bank 1.

Sensor 1 is always the upstream sensor (The one located BEFORE the catalytic converter)
Sensor 2 is always the downstream sensor (the one that is located AFTER the catalytic converter.

Hope helps (remember to rate this).

P0422 - Catalyst below threshold.

Catalytic converter is clogged or out of medium.

Replace it.

ACTUAL DIAGNOSTIC:

Fault Code Definition
Code P0422 indicates that the Bank 1 Main Catalytic Converter's emissions efficiency has fallen below the minimum allowable limit. This threshold is tracked by a Catalyst Monitoring Oxygen Sensor located on or near the outlet of the Catalytic Converter.

Symptoms

* Check Engine Light will illuminate
* In many cases, no abnormal symptoms may be noticed

Common Problems That Trigger the P0422 Code

* Defective Catalytic Converter
* Engine misfires have damaged the Catalytic Converter
* Internal engine damage resulting in high oil consumption and/or a leaking Head gasket has damaged the Catalytic Converter

Common Misdiagnoses

* Oxygen Sensors are replaced when the real problem is a damaged Catalyst
* Catalyst is replaced when the real problem is internal engine damage, which is producing elevated emissions levels
* Catalyst is replaced when a misfiring engine is the real problem
