remove the top cover that says 2.4 L on it, the spark plugs are underneath. Like me, you'll feel like an idiot for not knowing.

SOURCE: how to reset the "service engine soon" light on a 2001 pontiac grand prix gt

you can go to advance auto and use there scanner for free to clear the code its called an obd2 connection or when you disconnect your battery you can touch your black negative cable to your red positive cable that connects to the battery and it will completley drain everything and reset but warning you if your trying to get the car through emissions your gonna have to drive the car 50 or 100 miles after you disconnect the battery each time..

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Gt not shifting into OD

this trans is the 4T65E. It needs a 4th clutch hub. The splines strip off around 120k or more because they weren't hardened from the factory. The new ones have the hardened splines. The trans needs to come out and be partially torn down. I've fixed alot of these. Change the EPC solenoid while you are there. They wear and hang up causing intermittent harsh shifts

You can drive them forever without changing the hub but you'll never have 4th gear

2000 grand am won't charge new alternator battery three months old

Need to have a meter to check continuity between new alternator and the new battery. Make sure all connections are tight. May have open fusible link which a meter will reveal. May have bad voltage regulator in the ECM which should show a code. I do not like relying on dash gauge, they can be inaccuate. Time to have a mechanic check for codes and continuity.

On my2006 pontiac gp battery volts start at 14.60 and will go to 12.90

Sounds like the alternator's voltage regulator might be bad, causing an overcharge then an undercharge condition with the battery/alternator combination.

I would see if changing the alternator which comes with a new regulator would work, or have the alternator's regulator changed at an auto electric shop.

Actually, the normal range on GM vehicles is like 13.2 to 14.2 volts while running.

Does the charge light go on, indicating a problem?
