To get at the back cover the engine needs to be rotated forward. To remove the front cover, you need to pull the pulley.

How hard is it to install oil pan on my 2000 deville, northstar engine

I worked on a 1999 Deville and to remove the oil pan wasn't to bad to change. All I had to do was Jack up the car and support it.Also remove the negative battery terminal.Drain the oil then remove the torque converter cover bolts and then the oil pan bolts and remove the oil pan.On some model Cadillacs there is also an exhaust cross under pipe that also has to be removed.Be sure not to over tighten the oil pan bolts there real hard to get out if you break one.Your going to have to find out how tight they should be because they all very depending on the vehicle. Most all of your auto parts stores have this information.

Cant remove front valve cover

Removal of pulley is usually the main problem... a special tool is used for this. and another special tool is used to replace it. Once removed the valve cover will rotate slightly toward windshield and slide toward drivers side of engine. A power stearing tool can be used to remove the pulley and a bolt with a stack of washers can be used to install the pulley. Good luck.

How to change a thermostat on a 2002 cadi deville northstar

Follow the upper radiator hose to the point where it enters the motor. Disconnect it at that housing and remove the bolts holding the housing in pace. Remove the housing and all of the old gasket. The thermostat sits under that housing and just pops right out. Install the new one along with a new gasket. Put everything back in the reverse order.

How to replace the thermostat on 2001cadillac deville

4.6 Northstar V8. It is located on the rear of engine (driver side) in front. It is 1n the the waterpump housing cover. Remove airbox and intake tube and bottom radiator hose. 2 bolts(believe 10mm) on thermo housing. These systems are a lil finiky about air pockets....so fill slowly and let run at idle until operating temp and let cool and chk level.....fill as needed and repeat if needed.
