to reset the code for immobilizer and programmed the key so what happens is , when you put the key on ,the warning lamp for the engine comes on quickly and goes off before starting the engine and when cranking the engine but can not start

from listening to other Land Rover owners this type of thing is very common , the quickest thing to try is to press the lock button on the fob four times , this should resync the fob and alarm/immob and ignition,if no better then i'm afraid a visit to a mechanic with some landrover experience would be my advise

First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.

Everytime when you had a new key you must programm all available ignition car keys before trying to start the engine with this new key !!!

Vw beetle does not start. seems like its some kind of anti theft protection. the car/key icon lights up, it turns over for a second , then off. this is the first time this has happened, but we bought it...

2001 vw passat...its starts up and then shuts off within 2 seconds...imobilizer light comes on...when car sits for a while its starts....but then it will not start intermitantly again? help!!!

MAKE SURE YOU USING THE RIGHT KEYS. TRY ANOTHER IGNITION KEY.PLACE KEY IN THE SWITCH. TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO ON POSITION UNTIL IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES FOR 2 TO 3 SECONDS. IF IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES FOR 2 TO 3 SECONDS THEN FLASHES RAPIDLY.KEY CODE NOT RECOGNIZED.REMOVE KEY AND TRY AGAIN. IF ALL FAILS TAKE CAR TO DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE TO USE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO FIX CAR.PROBLEM COULD BE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH,BCM,FAULT IN THE ECM OR IMMOBILIZER CODE INCORRECT.

After replacing my battery, I am unable to start the car without hitting the alarm reset under the dash. A mechanic told me to turn the key up to crank, quicfkly 5 times to reset. That did not work.

PLACE THE PROGRAMMED KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. FOR THE FIRST KEY. TURN IGNITION SWITCH ON AND WAIT 3 SECONDS RETURN TO OFF POSITION AND REMOVE KEY. FIRST AND SECOND PROGRAMMED KEY OPERATIONS MUST BE PERFORMED WITH IN 15 SECONDS. INSERT SECOND PROGRAMMED KEY AND SWITCH IGNITION ON. WAIT APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS. ENSURE IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP BEGINS TO FLASH AND AN ACOUSTIC SIGNAL IS EMITTED.SWITCH IGNITION OFF AND REMOVE KEY.WITHIN 50 SECONDS INSERT NEW KEY AND SWITCH IGNITION ON.WAIT APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS.ENSURE ACOUSTIC SIGNAL IS EMITTED AND IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP REMAINS ILLUMINATED FOR 3 SECONDS INDICATING PROGRAMMING COMPLETE.
