There are not self programming instructions for a 2001 Cadillac Deville. However, we do have some money saving tips for you on professional programming.

1) Make sure you purchase a replacement key fob online from: https://www.keylessentryremotefob.com/2001-Cadillac-DeVille-Key-Fob-s/3707.htm

2) Call a few local locksmith to price shop programming. They are usually less expensive than the dealer and they come to you.

Unfortunately, the website I found says there is no on-board method of programming your car for a new key-fob. You have to take the car to a dealer or to a key-maker (who may only charge half as much as the dealer)

How do you program a keyless entry fob for a Cadillac srx 2005?

Most GM vehicles of that vintage require a GM Tech II scanner to program the keyless entry. It is an expensive tool so a trip to the dealer is generally required. Some locksmiths may be able to program them as well.

Keyless entry is not working but the dealer says the key fobs are sending? Should I install a new keyless entry system? Is there an easy solution?

Key fobs are tuned to the car, or should I say the car is tuned to accept the signal from the fob. The proceedure for this varies in different vehicles but is outlined in the owners hanbook. If you press the button and can hear a sound but no lock/unlock then there is a plastic gear drive in the mechanism has broken. It is easy and cheap to replace

How to program keyless entry remote 2001 cadillac deville. replacing both remotes

I have the correct answer for you, but it is probably not what you want to hear. A 2001 Cadillac Deville has NO self-programming procedures for remotes. You can add transponder keys if you have the master key, otherwise you need to go to a professional to get them programmed because they need special equipment to communicate with the vehicle.

I would suggest a locksmith before the dealer as they are usually more affordable. We always recommend an ALOA (Associated Locksmiths of America) member, as their code of ethics means they will treat you fair.

I also suggest avoiding the dealer for the actual key fob remotes for your Cadillac Deville. My company sells factory OEM key fob replacements at a steep discount. Check this link to find your vehicle key fob. https://keylessentryremotefob.com/

How to program a keyless entry remote for a 2001 cadillac deville

Hello, To answer your question about programming a keyless entry remote you need a scanner tool that has the capability to accomplish this task. A GM Tech 2 or something else that has the ability to do what the Tech 2 does. I know this is not what you want to hear but I am reading it right out of the Cadillac Service Manual. Thank you

2001 Cadillac sedan deVille Frequently will not start on first try. Wait several minutes then starts. Sometimes starts after changing from Key fob 1 to key fob 2

I fought with this issue on my wife's car for almost a year, thinking, ignition, security, starter, changing fobs, etc. I finally caved and replaced the starter - that was it.

When this happens and you turn on the ignition, do the gauges come on,etc? This will help eliminate the ignition switch/circuits as a possible cause.

Programming a keyless entry remote

Key Fob Auto Learn
This procedure will first erase all known key fobs. The procedure will then program a single or multiple key fobs. Method 3 is a series of three 10-minute key cycles, for a total of 30 minutes. This procedure requires that you have a replacement key fob and the vehicle mechanical key.

Important: All previously programmed key fobs will be erased upon completion of the 30-minute programming procedure. The order in which the key fobs are programmed will determine its numbering position within the RCDLR memory. The first key fob programmed will be key fob #1, and the second key fob programmed will be key fob #2. The number stamped on the key fob case is for reference only: #2 can be programmed as #1.
Do not place any known good key fobs in the vicinity of the vehicle when programming.

The vehicle must be OFF.
Place the replacement key fob in the console pocket with the buttons facing forward.
Insert the vehicle key in the driver door lock cylinder located in the driver door handle and cycle the key 5 times within 5 seconds.

The DIC will display a message: OFF/ACC TO LEARN.
Press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition button.
The DIC will display a message: WAIT 10 MINUTES, then it will count down from 10 to 0, one minute at a time.
When the counter reaches 0, DIC will display OFF/ACC TO LEARN.
Repeat steps 5-7 two more times, for a total of 30 minutes.
The DIC will display a message: OFF/ACC TO LEARN.
Press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition button.
A beep will occur and the DIC will display: READY FOR FOB 1. At this time all previously known key fobs have been erased. When fob 1 is programmed a beep will be heard and the DIC will display a message: READY FOR FOB 2.
Additional key fobs can be programmed by taking fob 1 out of the pocket and inserting fob 2. If desired, up to 4 fobs can be programmed. Once 4 fobs have been learned, the DIC will display a message: MAX FOBS LEARNED, and automatically exit the program mode.
If learning less than 4 key fobs, press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition button to exit the program mode.
Operate the active portion of each key fob in order to finalize the programming sequence and verify correct system operation.

Good luck and hope this help's keep me posted, there are 3 other methods and the 5th method is a tech 2 scan tool that the dealer uses but this should work on your year of cadillac.
