This is the third time I have asked. Where do I find an answer?
Hello, the steering wheel can 'lock-up' in certain positions if it's internal mechanism is ''against the stop'' ie;limit of travel.try turning the wheel back & forth while pushing the key IN while turning key switch .If you get it 'ON',drive to a locksmith/key shop & have a new key made.IT IS THE 'POINT' OF THE KEY THAT UNLOCKS THE WHEEL;As the key wears out,it can't' REACH' THE unlock pin. best O' luck
Testimonial: "I need to know how to make the wheel NOT lock ever again. Can I take wheel apart or use car computer to keep wheel unlocked forever?"
The computer has no influence on the lock mecanisim per se: only feedback from electrical connections.I'm sure lock could be disabled,But I've never tried to. 1st dilema that comes to mind is you would likely disable ignition switch function as well.requiring re-wiring a seperate 'custom' switch in the dashboard. read a service manual ,search U-tube,etc. You'll probably find the easiest fix is to make it work as designed. If You try to alter it,HEED ALL WARNINGS
REGARDING AIR BAGS!! work safely.
