If you just hear a click, try this:
This procedure usually works:
·Check the battery cable connections:
Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.

·Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

·Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.
·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

Sounds like the battery died. Cold temps are hard on a lead-acid battery. If the battery is cheap or has some age, it will show its true colors in very cold weather. Consider testing battery with multimeter or a battery load tester. If none are available, you can take the battery out and have it tested at the local auto store.

No.
You would need to have the engine computer checked for trouble codes to proceed.

You may have a thermostat that is stuck in the open position not allowing the engine tom warm up fast enough to please the computer. Depending on which engine you have, locate the thermostat housing and replace the thermostat.

You could also be a little low on coolant. Take off the radiator cap when the engine is cold and check the level.

If you go to obd-codes.com you can read about this defect. The battery light is telling you that the charge in the battery is not a full charge. Have autozone or one like it to test the battery and alternator. I believe if you correct the battery issue the other problems should go away.

My 2008 335 needs clock reset frequently in very cold weather

is clock time wrong when ignition turned on to light up or is it after cranking the engine?
the latter usually causes clock resets when the battery output v engine crank needs in extreme cold is exceeded.check battery under load test with carbon pile tester or similar.don't want to leave you stranded, but you can do a simple test at home by leaving headlights on for 15mins,then try turning over engine. If battery is ok it should start easily(these batteries have heaps of CCA(cold crank amps)and reserve. If not see dealer or battery supplier, these batteries should be good for 5yrs and most are 3 yr warranty now.Failing that we may have an electronic fault that could be recorded in a forum on BMW factory faults.hope this helps

I started my car this morning and it was idling rough. Then the check engine light came on and while I was starting to drive to work it was shifting quick and hard into and out of gears. Eventually it...

yes some times when initial cold start a sensor could get a mis read due to alot of variables, and it would cause trans to shift abrupt. the good thing is it did correct itself and the computer reconized this and detects no stored code. recommend to let vehicle warm 5-10 min before drive. In cold weather you should never just jump in and start car and take off. should always let engine and fluids get to operating temps before drive, This will prolong the life of the motor and trans from internal (expensive) repairs.

2004 Saturn Ion wont start from time to time when it is cold outside.. Like this morning my daughter went outside and the car started right up with the temp outside 7 degrees. She warmed it up for awhile...

LOL repeating questions. Its your ignition switch. its a common problem with ions ( I myself have a 04 ion and had it replaced twice in 3 years) repair is around 400 dollars with labor. Just google "ion not starting in cold weather" and youll get TONS of threads. No recall either its stupid

When I went outside to start my Jaguar X-Type it was cold outside. I was in a hurry and didn't let the car warm up properly. It jumped a bit then the check engine light came on along with a message that said No cruise control. The no cruise light came off but my check engine light is still on. Any suggestions as to what it may be?
