I used csorb's instructions to reprogram a master key for my 2000 Lexus RX300. The ignition works perfectly, but the doors don't lock or unlock.

Hi!!
I believe your alarm is in the PASSIVE MODE, here is how it works.

PASSIVE MODE Setting (Arming) Anti-Theft System The system will automatically set 30 seconds after following methods are performed: Remove ignition key from ignition switch. Exit vehicle, and close all doors. After performing this, anti-theft indicator on left side of instrument panel will light continuously for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, anti-theft indicator will blink once per second. When system is set, doors cannot be locked or unlocked using door lock control switch.
CANCELING THE ALARM AND REPROGRAMING MAY SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.
Canceling Anti-Theft System Setting (No Alarm) When system is set (armed), but alarm is not sounding, use one of following methods to cancel system setting:
  • Unlock left or right front door using key.
  • Unlock all doors using remote keyless entry system.
  • Insert key in ignition switch and turn to ON position (this is operative only when anti-theft system has not been triggered).
HERE IS HOW TO REPROGRAM THE ALARM IN CASE YOU NEED TO RESET IT.
PROGRAMMING
PASSIVE MODE NOTE:Initial mode is passive mode off. If there is a different signal in middle of programming, signal is invalid.
Programming Passive Mode Off
  • Remove ignition key from ignition key cylinder. Ensure all doors (including back door) and engine hood are closed and unlocked. Perform all of following methods within 30 seconds:
  • Lock or unlock any door with key or remote keyless entry system.
  • Open driver door.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob 3 times.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Perform all of following methods within 20 seconds:
  • Unlock driver door lock knob.
  • Close and open driver door 2 times.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Passive mode should now be off.
Programming Passive Mode On
  • Remove ignition key from key cylinder. Ensure all doors, engine hood and luggage compartment door are closed and unlocked.
  • Close and open driver door 4 times.
  • Lock and unlock driver door lock knob.
  • After performing this, system should start force lock after 2 seconds. Passive mode should now be on.

A few days a go my locks on my 2002 saturn started fluttering and making clicking sounds. I can only unlock my car with the key now and all the locks have to be unlocked and locked manually. Then a few...

Do you or your husban know how to trouble shoot automotive electrical systems , using a wiring diagram and a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Do you know how to trouble shoot electronic control modules an circuitry ? The BCM - body control module controls the power locks , anti-theft system . The first step in diagnosing problems like this involve hooking of a scan tool that can pull BCM codes . No auto parts store can check these codes .
DOOR LOCKING/UNLOCKING
Door locking/unlocking, by remote keyless entry (RKE) or driver/all door lock switches, is controlled through the BCM.
When a driver door unlock has been requested, the BCM switches circuit 694 to battery voltage. This energizes the driver door unlock relay which supplies power to the driver door lock motor. Grounding is achieved through the closed contacts of the all-door lock relay. Grounding is also achieved through the windings of the all-door lock motors and the all-door unlock relay.
When an all-door unlock has been requested, the BCM switches circuit 194 to battery voltage. This energizes the door unlock relay which supplies power to the all-door lock motors. Grounding is achieved through the closed contacts of the door lock relay. Grounding is also achieved through the winding of the driver door lock motor and the driver door unlock relay.
When an all-door lock has been requested, the BCM switches circuit 195 to battery voltage. This energizes the door lock relay which supplies power to all-door lock motors. Grounding is achieved through the closed contacts of the door unlock relay and the BCM.
Lock/Unlock power application is limited by the BCM to 7 seconds to protect lock motors.

SECURITY SYSTEM
The passlock sensor is powered by circuit 1459. The passlock sensor is grounded by circuit 1835. Passlock sensor data is supplied to the BCM by circuit 1836.
The passlock sensor data supplied to the BCM is in the form of V-codes or voltage codes. When the proper ignition key is turned in the ignition switch, the correct V-code is supplied to the BCM. The BCM responds by sending a serial data password to the engine controller allowing the engine to run.
Under a tamper condition, a specific V-code is supplied to the BCM. The BCM will send a class II message to the PCM disabling the fuel injectors.

Your factory code is on a card in the owners manual. If that is lost, access the control module in the cargo area behind the left cover panel.

You MIGHT be able to see the code printed on it, or you might need to pull it out in order to see it.

I don't have a manual for my 2004 lincoln Avaitor but would like to know how I can change the code on the drives door key pad

KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM With the keyless entry keypad, you can: • lock or unlock the vehicle doors without using the key. Your vehicle has a factory set 5 digit code that operates the keyless entry system. You can also program your own 5 digit personal entry code. The factory-set code is located: • on the owner's wallet card in the glove compartment • or at your dealer. When pressing the controls on the keyless entry keypad, press the middle of the controls to ensure a good activation. This system will disable the power door lock controls. These will not work until the vehicle is disarmed. Programming your own personal entry code To program your own code: 5. Enter factory set code (keypad will illuminate when pressed). 6. Press 1/2 control within five seconds of step 1. 7. Enter your personal 5 digit code. Enter each digit within five seconds of previous one. 8. After the code is entered, the locks will cycle, confirming that the new code has been set. Do not set a code that includes five of the same number or presents them in sequential order. Thieves can easily figure out these types of codes. Your personal code does not replace the permanent code that the dealership gave you. You can use either code to unlock your vehicle. If a second personal code is entered, the module will erase the first personal code in favor of the new code. Locks and Security 149 Locks and Security If you wish to erase your personal code, use the following instructions: 1. Enter factory set code. 2. Press 1/2 control and release. The system will now only respond to the factory set code. Anti-scan feature The anti-scan feature prevents repeated attempts at arriving at a valid key code. The keyless entry pad is disabled for 1 minute after 7 unsuccessful attempts (35 consecutive button presses) at entering a valid key code. The keypad will flash during this 1 minute mode. However, the 7/8 and 9/0 controls will still lock the vehicle. Anti-scan will be turned off after: • one minute of keypad inactivity. • the remote entry transmitter UNLOCK button is pressed. • the ignition is turned to the ON position. Unlocking the doors with the keyless entry system To unlock the driver door, enter either the factory set code or the personal code (each digit must be pressed within five seconds of the prior digit). The interior lamps will also illuminate. To unlock all doors, enter the factory set code or personal code (driver door unlocks) and press the 3/4 control within five seconds. Locking the doors with the keyless entry system It is not necessary to enter the factory or personal code prior to locking all doors. To lock the doors: • with the driver's door closed, press the 7/8 control and the 9/0 control at the same time.
