Possible coolant temperature sensor. It relays info to PCM which in turn regulates fuel needed for different engine temperatures. If sensor is faulty, it may be telling PCM that engine is already warm, when it's actually cold and needs a richer fuel mixture.

SOURCE: 1998 Plymouth Neon only "clicks" when you try to start it.

Hello;
Check the voltage at the battery. It should be in the 12.5+ volt range. Check your connections also to be sure they are clean and tight. A quick check to see if there is enough juice to crank the engine over is to turn the ignition switch to start and at the same time honk the horn. If the horn blows and the starter does not crank, you probably have a bad starter.
The starter is located on the radiator side of the engine block and is held to the transaxle by 2 bolts. Follow the positive cable to the starter. Hope this helps;
Thanks;
Rich

SOURCE: 98 plymouth neon (automatic) starting problem

shoot some starting fluid in the air intake and try to start again. If it starts you have a fuel problem. If still no start could be an ignition problem.

SOURCE: low idle

there is no adjustment that can be made. You will have to have your iac motor checked it is attached to the side of the throttle body (idle air control).it is operated by the PCM. The PCM adjusts engine idle speed through the idle air control motor to compensate for load on the engine, or changes in coolant temperature or barometric pressure.

Got 2000 dodge neon will start when cold run good but when motor warms up won't start

Nikki is the engine light on, are there any codes,have you had a tune up or any other work done lately.when you say it won't start when warm(do you mean engine will not turn over, or does engine turn and refuses to fire.
If I had to guess failing fuel pump, they tend not to build fuel pressure when ran a while(warmed up) and when left to cool build somewhat better pressure.

My 1999 Jeep Sahara will start just fine, but will sometimes surge during warmup. Then after it warms up, runs fine. However, sometimes, if I turn it off, then restart alittle later, it does not want to...

Due to the age of your jeep, You need to replace the fuel pump and filter along with replacing the water pump and thermostat as well as coolant temp sensor. Fuel supply and coolant flow and temp sensing is critical to Cold start (open loop) and warm up (closed loop) Idle function and fuel mapping. Change the air filter too.

98 plymouth neon runs fine cold but as soon as it gets warmed up about 20 to 30 miles it starts to bog down and sputters i changed both o2 sensors and the catalatic converter what else can it be

Randy:This is a shot in the dark as I don't know if you had a reader hooked up or not(most parts stores do it free)but it could be a cam sensor or crankshaft sensor.I have a 98 neon sohc that was doing the same thing,only after about 10 minutes or so.Good luck.
P.S. check the connections on them may get lucky.

Replaced water pump and timing belt on my '95 Plymouth Neon with 154,000 miles. Starts right up (warm or cold) but has a very lumpy idle and dies when I stop at a traffic light. It starts right away...

Welcome to Fixya

You might need to have a good tune-up with your car. Did you notice the needle of the RPM going up and down? The normal idle RPM is 600 to 800.

Saab 9-5 need to give alittle throttle for cold engine start

the idle air control valve may be bad or just needs cleaned out. idle air control valve acts the same as a choke. if it is messing up it will cause engine not to run right.

My neon started idling at 4000+ rpms and wont idle down. car is undrivable because engine revs to high to stop with brakes.

check for major vaccum leaks and it none found then you may have a bad idle air control valve, that controls the idle start there, good luck.

I just resently replaced a brken timing belt on my 96 neon

Neons used a DOHC interference type engine. I hate to tell you this, but the valves are bent, and your entire valve train (possibly your cylinder head) needs to be repaired or replaced all together.

1997 neon expresso 2 dr., 5spd, 2.0L DOHC, engine won't start

Yup, I'd have to agree if all those things check out. Funny I thought there must have been more to the question, when all it asked about was switch noise & codes. Anyway, sounds like you've checked everything, right down to power at solenoid terminal when key cycled to start, so That would be my next step.
