Water could have the plastic guide's the release cable runs through or caused them to break limiting the pull on the release. If you look from underneath bumper with light you can see mechanism have someone pull release & hold why look to see whats not disengaging. Yo manually open from there.

SOURCE: Need to open hood manually from outside

it can be done thru the front of the grille , locate the cable coming from the latch mecanism , and cut partially thru the cable to gain access to the inner cable that does the opening of the latch.

it takes a little time an it will be a bit frustrating but it can be done ! I hope all goes well with plowing !

SOURCE: My hood won't pop open

Push down on the hood where the latch is, the design is bad, very.  If you push on it a few times that will excersice the bad design, and make the hood easier to open.

SOURCE: hood release won't pop hood

you have to let that hood release get warm enough so that it will pop open then put some motor oil on the mechanisim so it don't freeze up again.. good-luck ray

there is one two ways the first is use like that commercial deicer and spray it into the locking unit if it works and you do get the hood open spray the deicer into the lock again it should take care of it for good and if unsure spray a little WD40 in the latch. the second is more difficult and it requires heat not advisable to use though.

try pulling the cable that conects to the release handle with pliers if this dosent work you will have to remove the grill for acses to the latch

How do I open 1984 Honda Prelude hood, opens like a corvette hood, hinged in front. Hood latch rusted shut, won't move. Would disconnect of latch inside allow hood to raise up to reach locking unit?

Any chance you can remove front hinge bracket bolts?... then raise front of hood enough to get directly at the latch and release or unbolt the latch? or get penetrating oil into latch?

Maybe remove bumper or wheel wells or whatever to get to the hinge bolts.

Just trying to get you thinking of other ways in.

HELP!! 1992 buick lesabre Hood release cable snapped. no way to get hood open..

You may need a professional to get this hood open, and it will likely need to be on a car lift. Try this if you are handy, try removing the driver side fender well liner for access to the latch.

The weather here in coastal NC has just turned colder, and this morning I went out to start my Audi A4 and get *** warmed up. 5 min later when I left it did not seem like it was getting warm. All the way...

Pop the hood and at the back of the engine compartment you will see 2 rubber hoses going into the bulkhead, undo the clip on the hottest of these using a LARGE pair of pliers and make sure its full of water,(use anti freeze to top it up)then run the engine upto temp and check the heater again, this is the first step before changing the thermostat etc.....

Removing the fender was wondering if hood hing thats bolted to fender is also spot wekded it appears to be was wondering just to remove fender it would be easier to remove the hood itself from the 1 hinge...

you should remove the entire hood...it'll save you the hassle of replasing it if it gets bumped when it's only attached by 1 hinge and it wrinkles, creases or outright breaks

Same problem but on driver side. I have no sun roof. I also have a leaky trunk and have replaced the weather stripping already

Take a look at your door hinges and the way your door and trunk close.
Closely examine your side mirrors.
Pop the hood and look at the firewall.
Look closely for drain tubes and make sure they are not full o **** and they are attached.
