Get fuel but wont start
Disconnect the fuel pump relay and pull out the plugs. Air the cylinders to let the fuel that is not burnt evaporate. Connect a spark tester to the plus to see if you are getting a good spark. If I am not mistaken, the engine has a coil per spark plug on that model year. Clean your air filter and throttle body to make sure you have good air flow. Then you will need to check the cam and crankshaft position sensors. My bet would be the Crank Position sensor is out of wack and needs replacing. Once you put everything back together, leave the fuel pump relay out! crank the engine over for a few seconds to lubricate the cylinders with oil. Once you have oil; in the cylinders that will allow you to build compression and then plug they fuel pump relay back in and try to start.
It's hard to know exactly because I'm sure that you keep trying to start it. By now, if you've smelled gas while trying to start it, The spark plugs must be flooded. They get saturated and ground themselves out and will never start even if you have spark. Then if it gets too flooded, the gas goes into the oil and washes down the cylinders and loses compression. I would start by putting in a new set of spark plugs and spraying some starting fluid into the air cleaner box and try to start it once. You have to remember, with fuel injection, NEVER touch the gas pedal when you start a vehicle.
Check your crankshaft sensor or pic up coil.
Ok well there is only two things that make a combustion engine run! If you are getting gas to the fuel rail and it has adequate fuel pressure at the rail then you have a spark problem! Pick up a spark tester( looks like a plug wire in a way but has a light ) Plug it into the first plug on the right side of the motor,(# 1 cylinder) and have a friend turn over the motor. There should be positive spark and the light indicator should light as a constant . If it is intermittent in any way than spark is why u will not start. Then on these years I always start with a new coil or coil packs depending on your type of engine! Hope this helps!! Just my opinion and I could be wrong ! Good luck.
