SOURCE: Problem wtih starting car

The second switch is a relay.  Once you depress the brake pedal it closes the circuit and allow power to flow the starter so that when you push the start button it turns and starts your engine.  The contacts in relays after a while will start to ware out or start to pit just like points in the older cars and it could not make contact to close the loop with in the circuit which will result not starting.

2007 nissan altima was in a small car crash put a new parts back but when I went to push the start button all light came on like it does but it wont start don't know why

where was it hit? a lot of cars have safety feature so that when it is hit it automatically shuts fuel off to prevent fire. if this is the case most are in the trunk under the cover. all you have to do is hit the reset button

2007 nissan altima won't go in reverse or drive

Hi,
It starts and runs OK, correct?

Check your fluid level - Directions in the Owner's Manual.

Are you pushing the brake pedal b4 trying to move the lever (sorry, have to ask)?

Does the lever move @ all? Into Neutral?

Is the Check Engine Light on?

Sounds like you'll need to have it towed to a shop. Call the Better Business Bureau for a reference, or recommendations from family/friends.

My nissan altima will not shift out of park

In 2007 Altima with the Passive (Push) start, this problem occurs when Brake switch is either bad or needs an adjustment. In this case, temporarily solution is to open the button available just above the Park position by the lever. Once that 0.5-0.75" hole is open, start the engine and then insert a key in the whole, and push it downwards. While the key is pushed downwards, attempt to shift the lever out of park, you will be able to shift. If still not, gentally, push the key little harder, and repeat the process again. You must be able to shift out pf park. Then, remove the key, and drive.
Again, this is just a temporary solution. Get the brake switch adjusted or replaced ASAP. TC

I'm having issues with the push button start in my 2007 nissan altima. I depress the brake and then push the button but it just moves from lock to acc but the car doesn't start. Any ideas?

The brake switch may be going out take it to the dealership. That was happening with my car at first I thought it was the battery. It ended up costing me $130 to fix.

Problem wtih starting car

I had the same issue. It turned out that the break pedal switch was broken. The engine start push button is connected to a second break pedal switch that senses when you push it. That switch is independent from your main break pedal switch that turns on the brake lights of the car.
